In the context of Mpox, it is important to protect, promote, and support recommended IYCF practices, while also applying appropriate infection prevention and control (IPC) measures during feeding, care, and contact with infants and young children, in accordance with the current IYCF guidelines for Mpox. More focus should be on the known risks of stopping breastfeeding and the stress caused by separating a mother from her baby, compared to the possible, but uncertain, risk of the baby getting Mpox. 

Breastfeeding Week takes place in the first week of August every year. This global initiative highlights the importance of breastfeeding for child health and survival. Despite its benefits, fewer than half of infants under 6 months are exclusively breastfed. Breastfeeding is a fundamental right and a cornerstone of early childhood development. Yet, many parents face barriers that prevent them from providing this vital nourishment to their children. By working together to close these gaps, we can create a more equitable and healthy future for all. At the P.G. Department of Population Studies, Fakir Mohan University, we are dedicated to advocating for inclusive breastfeeding support that reaches every family.
