Intersectionality in Advocacy Intersectionality is a crucial concept in advocacy, highlighting how various forms of discrimination overlap. In Kenya, understanding intersectionality is vital for addressing issues that affect women, minorities, and marginalized groups. Advocates must recognize that solutions need to be inclusive and holistic. For example, gender-based violence disproportionately affects women, especially those from marginalized communities. Advocacy efforts must consider these intersections to create effective strategies for change. How can we ensure that our advocacy efforts are more inclusive? Share your ideas! #Intersectionality #Advocacy #Inclusion

Yesterday, I attended an enlightening online seminar on transforming the #careeconomy. The event brought together passionate women from around the world—and a man—collaborating to advance policies, funding, and advocacy aimed at better supporting #careworkers. It was truly inspiring to witness a comprehensive framework for the next few years being mapped out to elevate the care economy on a global scale. While the seminar highlighted critical actions such as increasing funding, consolidating data collection, enhancing monitoring efforts, and improving compensation for care workers, I believe there is an urgent need to address the social perceptions surrounding care work. Beyond data and financial metrics, we must actively challenge and shift the negative attitudes associated with care work. It is essential to undertake coordinated efforts at the community level to elevate the social profile of care work. Without this cultural shift, even the most comprehensive data and financial valuation of care work may fail to change its perception as an inherently less valuable work. Moreover, when discussing care work, it is important to include unpaid caregivers at home who play a vital role in sustaining households and ensuring the smooth functioning of all other societal operations. Recognizing their contributions is critical for building a truly inclusive and supportive care economy. Women Deliver The Asia Foundation International Center for Research on Women (ICRW) CIPPEC
