Friends and Colleagues,
It’s been a while since I posted, and it’s probably about time for an update. If I’m adhering to LI etiquette, I should make some noises about all the introspection I’ve been doing since retiring from Quantum Signal AI, LLC, all that I’ve learned about myself, and other “reflections.” I’m just a guy that can’t stand sitting still and has to make things happen, thus after a few short break weeks the calendar started filling up again – in great ways:
· After a few honors speaking and judging pitch competitions, I connected with founders of some promising startups and began advising. It is just awesome to have the opportunity to help others accelerate their progress, thus I’ve signed on as an Entrepreneur in Residence for Ann Arbor SPARK as well as a Mentor for the Washtenaw Community College Entrepreneurship Center. Special shout-outs to Bill Mayer, Phil Santer, Michelle Julet, and MariAnn A. for their help in making it happen!
· Those that know me know I’m a life-long robotics geek who never met a robot I didn’t like. 😊 Even so, it was humbling to be invited by Department Chair, collaborator, and friend Dawn Tilbury to join the University of Michigan Robotics Department Advisory Board. They’ve recruited an amazing array of talent, are building an innovative curriculum and program, and have a crazy cool facility (the Ford Robotics Building!). I deeply look forward to seeing what heights the Department will achieve (and to helping it get there in any way I can!).
· I’ve been working full-tilt to build a home for my 35+ year antique game collection, and the arcade/museum/club will be named Otto’s. Our local media outlet MLive.com did a great job covering what I’m up to – see below! Special thanks to Michael Stoianowski, Willis Building Company, and all of the wonderful contractors working to make it happen.
Last but not least, I’m in the process of launching Rohde Way, LLC – an advisory/consulting firm offering services to a broad range of clients. It’s about helping startups grow, helping companies build innovative and creative cultures, helping investors and M&A groups better understand core technologies and vet potentials, and much more. It should be a great time, and a very welcome return to working with clients deeply interested in innovation and growth. If you’d like to work with me (again, for some of you!) I’d love to hear from you. And I hope to see you in my arcade toward the end of this year! 😉
Mitch
