Farmer Buy-In: The Key to Scaling Regenerative Programs 🦚 One of the most critical aspects of implementing “regenerative agriculture programs” on a large scale is gaining farmer buy-in. Without farmer commitment to adopting these practices, scaling up sustainability efforts becomes nearly impossible. Farmers are the backbone of any agricultural initiative, and their willingness to embrace change determines the success or failure of regenerative programs. 🦚 To achieve this, we need to create a “farmer-centric value proposition” that incorporate the producer as part of the supply chain and that resonate with farmers, offering them tangible benefits such as agronomic results (better soil health, organic matter, higher yields), economic-financial incentives, premium prices for the produced crops, and a demonstrable, emotional benefit related to the positive impact they are generating on the environment. 🦚 It is about more than just introducing new practices: it is about building trust, providing the necessary support, training, monitoring, and demonstrating how these changes can generate long-term gains. 🌿 How do you approach farmer participation in your sustainability programs? Can we share a positive perspective for Farmers… Yes we can!   Regenerative Agriculture provides significant benefits for farmers but also helps to make the food system more sustainable.   Current agricultural methods, especially intensive farming, can leave a damaging environmental legacy and produce food of lower nutritional value. By applying regenerative agricultural practices, we can: > lower GHG emissions;  > reduce freshwater consumption; > cut back on nitrate pollution;  > improve soil quality and fertility;  > enhance biodiversity; and > grow more nutrient-rich crops.   Our point of view will address the following, with a specific perspective on the Netherlands: - What is regenerative agriculture, and what are its benefits and risks - What are the opportunities and challenges for food-agri players in scaling regenerative agriculture?
