aaaaaand pause ⏯ The start of the season has flown by for the team at Fantasy WSL, but international break gives us time to catch our breath and take stock of the first five weeks of action ⚽ And wow, there's a lot to digest...! 😅 We have grown Fantasy WSL with fan experience at the forefront of our minds. We wanted to create a space where people could engage in women's football, get to know the players and the teams, and find a community they feel at home in. It's really important to us to keep the game exciting and innovative, as well as create content that sparks pure delight ✨ We kicked off the season with over 30k users and 40k app downloads. With that in mind, here's some of the stats from the first five weeks of SZN 24/25 that we're most proud of: 📈 150,000 weekly session average on the app alone. For context, this is the same as our monthly average across all platforms last season 🤯 👀 2 million impressions on X 🔊 We've posted 88 posts on Instagram, with an 8% average engagement rate. That's nearly 8 times the industry average! 📩 The number of subscribers to our weekly email has grown by 66% 📲 The most popular game of the season was Crystal Palace vs Chelsea. We peaked at 9,000 requests per minute, and a total of 13,000 app sessions across the 90 mins! ⚽ ... all in just five weeks! But just because there's no WSL right now doesn't mean we're taking our foot off the pedal. We can't wait to come back in November with new features that improve the accessibility of the women's game, as we continue to drive more fans to the wonderful world of the Women's Super League 👏 #FantasyWSL #wsl #womensfootball #fantasyfootball #barclayswsl

🤜 🤛 Is tribalism good or bad for football? ⚽ At FanTime Media, we're dedicated to celebrating the vibrant, passionate world of football fans. Our mission is to shine a light on the unsung heroes of the beautiful game—the fans themselves. But today, we pose a thought-provoking question: Is tribalism good or bad for football fandom? On one side: Tribalism fuels the passion, loyalty, and community that make football so special. It creates a sense of belonging, unites diverse groups under a common banner, and drives the thrilling atmosphere we all love on match days. The shared experiences and traditions fostered by this tribal spirit can be deeply meaningful and create lifelong bonds. On the other side: Tribalism can also lead to division, hostility, and exclusion. It can amplify rivalries to unhealthy levels, sometimes resulting in conflict and intolerance. When taken to extremes, the 'us vs. them' mentality can overshadow the true spirit of the game, which is about unity, respect, and enjoyment. At FanTime Media, we believe in celebrating the positives while addressing the challenges head-on. We aim to create a community where every fan feels welcome, respected, and part of something bigger. What are your thoughts? Is tribalism a force for good in football fandom, or does it create more problems than it solves? Let's discuss! ⚽️❤️ #FootballFandom #Tribalism #FanTimeMedia #Community #FootballCulture #PassionAndUnity

The latest "Introduction" from the Sports Doing Good newsletter, #447. Theme: Seeing the invisible So, the "quiet period" before the start of the professional and college football season was not so quiet, with an array of great sporting events such as the Paralympics, WNBA, and US Open tennis championships. (My Olympics withdrawal never occurred). I am especially happy to include five stories dealing with the Paralympic Games. Kudos to NBC for showcasing this sporting event. I was hooked. These were world-class athletes with stories that inspired and athletic performances that impressed. I hope you take the chance to read those articles, and every other one included this week. The story I am featuring moved me in a way few others have. I dare to say this is one of the best, most impactful stories out of the more than 6,000 featured in Sports Doing Good in 12 years. This wasn't an article. It was a multimedia story told in four chapters, each thoughtful and compelling. At the end of the ESPN piece, I counted 33 people involved in its production. I was impressed but not surprised. Something this good certainly involved a major team effort. "How stadiums can help fans with ‘invisible disabilities’" from ESPN can be found in the Video section of the newsletter.* I hope you will take the time to go through the entire thing. I am not in the habit of dedicating the newsletter but this week, I must. So, a shout-out to Mikey, Bridget, Victor, Jack, Ryan, Amy and Rick. Your story matters and your courage in telling it will benefit not just those with "invisible injuries," but everyone else who hopefully will be more understanding of their fellow fans. This story is not just about sports doing good, but also sports getting better. *Link to article - https://lnkd.in/eArYnQCP

🗳Voting for #SXSW2025 panels is officially open and we need your help to bring ours to the Austin stage. Brands, fans, and networks are clamoring to join the groundswell around women in sports, but there’s a space that’s been largely ignored in the conversation: gaming and esports. Despite women making up nearly half of all gamers, they only represent 5% of pro gamers – with none in the top 500 earners – and still face significant harassment in this space. Our panel, featuring popular Twitch streamer ThePeachCobbler, leading brand execs, and more, will spotlight the issue and the role brands can play in driving change. Vote here: https://lnkd.in/g_4FTVxW #SXSW SXSW
