London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, U. of London’s Post

LSHTM rises to 2nd in the world for public health, its highest ever position in the global ShanghaiRanking 2024, and remains 1st in the UK for public health. The London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine (LSHTM) has been ranked 2nd in the world for public health in the 2024 ShanghaiRanking, while retaining its top place for public health among UK universities. It is LSHTM’s highest position in the ShanghaiRanking Global Ranking of Academic Subjects since it was first published in its current format in 2017, moving up from number 3 in the world for public health in 2023. The results are a recognition of LSHTM’s prestigious research and study programmes in public and global health. They are based on a range of indicators including academic awards and achievements, research quality, and international collaboration. More than 1,900 universities are listed in the rankings. In this year’s rankings Harvard University retained the top spot while LSHTM moved into 2nd ahead of Johns Hopkins University, now ranked 4th. UCL, in 3rd position, was the next closest UK university with the University of Oxford in 5th. Professor Liam Smeeth, the Director of LSHTM, said: “It’s great to see our strength as a world-leading public health university recognised in this way, all thanks to the hard work of our community. “LSHTM is dedicated to improving health worldwide through generating high quality science and new ways of thinking about public health. “We work with a unique global network to tackle the many challenges we face in today’s world because we believe our shared future depends on our shared health.” Read more 👉 https://lnkd.in/evtWwf3g #PublicHealth #GlobalHealth #Research

Maybe as a graduating student, I should say a word of support to my school. I am proud to let the world know that you have a strong MSc clinical trials programme. During and after the COVID-19 pandemic, your talk campus app was there for every student. We had a virtual world that wasn't locked down. We had friends that helped heal depressing situations, and voices that broke the deafening silence of forced isolation. In my clinical trial programme, your CTSupport was truly supportive throughout my 5 year journey. I am sure every graduating student has the same if not better experience than mine. My MSc tutors were extremely helpful throughout the collaborate sessions and with their assignment feedbacks. We registered from almost every part of the world but we were one big family through out the course. Without asking, LSHTM would be my first choice for MSc clinical trials for prospective students looking for graduate programmes in clinical trials. Congratulations and a very big thank you for my experience.

Congratulations! I was the guinea pig intake in 1992 of non-medics doing public health, called MSC health promotion science for us because we could not get an MPH. It was the most intellectually stimulating and horizon expanding year for me. And I’ve worked in public health every since and made friendships that continue to this day.

👏🏿Congratulations LSHTM! And thank you for your ongoing commitment to women's, children's and adolescents' health.
