Double your #impact — donations matched this November. For every dollar raised for Lonely Whale, Re:wild, and other climate nonprofits, Commons, a rewards app that harnesses collective action to make a positive impact on the planet, will match it with a donation to Lonely Whale, up to $3,000. As a 1% for the Planet member, Commons’ support is helping build awareness and financial backing for our mission at Lonely Whale. We’re honored to stand with Re:wild and Commons—together, we can inspire lasting change. Join the challenge, donate to support our work: https://lnkd.in/e2-gv47c

Transforming Surplus into Climate Solutions: This Earth Month, The Farmlink Project (https://lnkd.in/gp7KzjCD) is maximizing our climate impact for the entire month of April. We are thrilled to announce, 100% of every dollar donated through our website will go directly to rescuing potatoes. Donating $25 not only rescues 500 potatoes, but also generates a tangible positive climate impact by preventing 1,190 pounds of emissions—equivalent to an average car driving the entire length of the U.S. west coast." By redistributing fresh food into communities, we create a convenient climate positive option for farmers, and are able to eliminate environmentally harmful emissions. With each truckload, we respond to the global climate call to action to reduce methane emissions, and eradicate hunger in our lifetimes.

Today, you can double your impact with a tax-time gift and give nature a legal voice! Nature needs us now more than ever. In Australia, more than 2000 species and ecosystems are threatened with extinction. We need to drastically cut greenhouse gas emissions to avoid dangerous climate change, yet 29 new coal mines are on the table or approved already in Australia. The law is one of the most powerful tools we have to fight the climate and extinction crises. But we need you on our side, and today you can double your impact. Turn your $50 gift into $100, $150 into $300, or $500 into $1000. Gifts up to $1000 will be matched by one of EDO’s dedicated supporters, the Sisyphus Foundation. The Foundation are offering to match donations up to a total of $40,000 in memory of its founder, Jeremy Davis, who recognised EDO’s vital role in safeguarding Australia’s natural heritage for generations to come. We’d like to thank the Sisyphus Foundation and Jeremy’s family for their ongoing commitment to a world where nature thrives. Make your tax-time gift count and give wildlife and nature a legal voice today. With the end of financial year just three days away, now is a great time to give. By donating today, you are helping to use the law to defend our most precious places and wildlife from destruction.

🔥 We're supporting One Tree Planted in its mission to restore lands that have been degraded by Forest Fires. As climate change continues to worsen, the world's forests are seeing more intense fires. These fires are increasing in both size and intensity every year, damaging vital ecosystems. With so many forests being lost in this way, reforestation is essential for the environmental recovery process. For every placement we make, we donate to One Tree Planted. This is just one of the ways we're doing our bit to create a sustainable future. You'll find more on this great project and details on how you can make a donation here: To find out more about this great project, check it out here: https://lnkd.in/d4xqjCC. #onetreeplanted #sustainability #reforestation #future

🚀Calling my LinkedIn Network!! 🔬 As part of our senior design capstone project, Mark Ellersick, Jonathan Lin, Harrison Shaw, and I, advised by Dr. Andy Wolfe and Dr. Jessica Kuczenski, and in collaboration with the Climate Foundation and Dr. Brian Von Herzen, Ph.D., are working on the Climate Foundation’s Marine Permaculture project. ❌ Because of warming ocean temperatures, the natural ocean cycles that foster the cultivation of seaweed are failing. This poses threats to marine life and ecosystems, seaweed-dependent communities, and one of the world’s most effective carbon sinks. 🌿 To combat this threat, the Climate Foundation has implemented a seaweed growth platform in the western Pacific Ocean as a means of ecosystem restoration and carbon sequestration. 🌊 Our team is working to optimize this platform by implementing a system for automated data collection and wireless telemetry. This system will allow for the platform to be automatically positioned in an underwater environment with conditions best suited for the growth of seaweed 💪 But, we need YOUR help to fund this project! If you like our planet and want to help make an impact on climate change, please consider donating to this cause. Click the link below to be directed to the Climate Foundation’s tax-deductible funding campaign, and make sure to direct your donation to, “Santa Clara University Platform Automation.” Every dollar raised will make a difference in helping us to lead the way in addressing climate disruption. 💰Click the link here to make a tax-deductible donation: https://lnkd.in/gf74TPkm

BIG NEWS on the fundraiser for our global climate crisis & collapse anthology. We have now achieved nearly 3/5 of the funds for this book, as of 1/11/24. This means that we have only 13 days to raise the final £2000. It is possible, but a big challenge. For those who have already supported, please consider telling your family and friends about this fundraiser, and for those who haven't, please consider that with just a £10 donation to this campaign, you will receive an e-copy of the book when it is produced. So essentially by supporting this campaign, you will be pre-ordering the book, and vice versa: a pretty neat deal!! In other exciting news, I can confirm more authors for this book. Luka Dowell, host of the podcast Solarpunk Now! will be contributing a piece on the intersections between the solarpunk movement and collapse awareness, and social & climate justice activist Aurora Souza Basso will be sourcing a diverse chapter from Brazilian communities impacted by ecological crisis. Additionally, the structure of the book is developing. Broadly, the first section of the book will begin by looking at the extent of our ecological crisis & predicament, including the concept of ecological overshoot as well as the climate crisis. The second section will explore appropriate responses to this predicament from a transformative 'revolutionary' perspective, and the third and fourth sections will focus on the unfolding decline of modern civilization, societal collapse & how to respond appropriately to these. Stay tuned, and keep sharing this fundraiser! Remember, if we don't raise the funds, the book cannot go ahead! Fundraiser link: https://lnkd.in/eEFqPBxP -Matthew Azoulay, lead editor. PS Check out this ecofeminist Halloween video that one of our great volunteers made to promote the fundraiser. It's wild! https://lnkd.in/eJwh3Gws

It is so inspiring to see the work the Ocean Wise youth alum are doing, and at the same time disheartening to see reports like the recent one from the Auditor General titled "Unclear whether federal plastic waste-reduction activities will eliminate all plastic waste by 2030" (report here->https://lnkd.in/gQr43_xd). We need the Ocean, and the Ocean needs us! During June, Tru Earth will be matching donations up to $10,000. Join the effort to reduce Ocean Pollution and Plastics here - https://lnkd.in/gvfY2ztR
Meet Yasmine: An Ocean Wise Youth alum making waves for our ocean! 🌊 Yasmine, a passionate ocean advocate, is creating ripples of change. After discovering that cigarette butts are the #1 littered item in the world, she took action. Through our Ocean Bridge program, Yasmin created eye-catching transit posters, raising awareness about the harmful impact of cigarette butts on marine life. She invited people to join local beach cleanups, sparking a movement that extends far beyond the shoreline with her initiative the Buttwatch campaign. When we invest in young people like Yasmine, our impact on the ocean multiplies. They inspire family, friends, teachers, and community members to join the global ocean conservation movement. Yasmine’s dedication even inspired her dad, who has already collected over 50,000 cigarette butts this year! 🙌 In honor of World Ocean Day, for the rest of June, Tru Earth will be matching donations dollar for dollar, up to $10,000! Let’s make waves together! 🌊 https://lnkd.in/gvfY2ztR
