Gamechangers for convenience products: less meat and less fat🌱 There's no stopping the demand for plant-based, health-conscious yet tasty convenience products! However, plant-based fats do not always behave like their animal-based counterparts when it comes to production and preparation. Here, manufacturers have the exciting opportunity to tackle a few challenges head-on: Meat analogs, meat products, or hybrids should have an authentic texture and sensory appeal that will delight your taste buds. They should also convince with a low fat content and a short, natural ingredient list. Our wheat-based Lory® Stab blends and compounds are a game-changer! They offer incredible processing and nutritional benefits, perfectly replicating the texture and processing properties of animal fats. News on ultra-processed foods is making big waves in our industry. As the science around the health effects of ultra-processed food keeps getting developed and discussed, the impact of growing consumer awareness and the risk that it all leads to a perception shift, and then to possible rejection of legacy brands will continue to put pressure on the food industry to make changes. Luckily I can say from being 'inside' the industry that every client we work with is trying to make real changes and do right by the consumer. Same goes with the ongoing staple of Natural and Organic food entrepreneurs who constantly push the boundaries of what can & should be done. One great example is our new client Plezi, who is on a mission to help bring beverages that are simultaneously nutritious, tasty and healthy into kid's diets. CNN just summarized the latest study on the topic. What I hope does not get missed is this quote at the end of the article "𝘏𝘢𝘭𝘭’𝘴 𝘵𝘦𝘢𝘮 𝘪𝘴 𝘤𝘰𝘯𝘥𝘶𝘤𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘢 𝘯𝘦𝘸 𝘴𝘵𝘶𝘥𝘺 𝘵𝘰 𝘵𝘦𝘢𝘴𝘦 𝘰𝘶𝘵 𝘸𝘩𝘪𝘤𝘩 𝘶𝘭𝘵𝘳𝘢-𝘱𝘳𝘰𝘤𝘦𝘴𝘴𝘦𝘥 𝘧𝘰𝘰𝘥𝘴 𝘢𝘳𝘦 𝘩𝘢𝘳𝘮𝘧𝘶𝘭 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘸𝘩𝘪𝘤𝘩 𝘢𝘳𝘦 𝘯𝘦𝘶𝘵𝘳𝘢𝘭, 𝘰𝘳 𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘯 𝘩𝘦𝘢𝘭𝘵𝘩𝘺." signaling that there is still more to learn: https://lnkd.in/gMKSaTxT.

🍦 Dairy alternatives without compromise — what does that mean? Think about your favourite creamy ice cream, perfectly whipped cream on pavlova, smooth barista milk. Plant-based alternatives deserve to have the same creamy texture and delicious taste. Our researchers have spent years developing technology, experimenting, and perfecting processes to achieve just that. We’ve also discovered a legume that has nutritional and functional properties that become superior through our novel fermentation process. This means less additives are needed to create that creamy texture we all love. In short: Our special legumes🌱 + novel fermentation process✨ = ANDFOODS plant-based ingredients for your favourite creamy foods, that do not compromise on taste and texture. As a bonus, they’re also allergen free.

The plant-based industry is seeing a shift. 🫘🫛 Consumer preferences increasingly favour foods with ‘cleaner,’ 'less processed' ingredients. This demand is fostering a trend within plant-based: wholefood-inspired products and dishes that focus on more natural ingredients like legumes, grains, and vegetables. Think of Beyond Meat's new Sun Sausage range or Oh So Wholesome's Veg'chop. Unlike traditional meat analogues, these wholefood-inspired products embrace their components’ unique flavours and nutritional value instead of trying to mimic meat. As this segment of the meat-free market gains momentum, it appears poised to establish a lasting presence. I'm excited to see what other innovations come of it! 📈 Read ProVeg New Food Hub's latest article to explore the drivers behind this trend and learn how your business can leverage it. ➡️https://lnkd.in/eefhbctx #ProVeg #NewFoodHub #Wholefoods #PlantBased
