Last week, I had the opportunity to participate in EOSAM and co-moderate, along with Oliver Fähnle, a panel discussion on the challenge of transferring technology from the lab to the industry. We had a stimulating 1-hour discussion with four participants (which was actually not enough to cover such wide topic!), each offering unique perspectives. Adèle Morisset, CTO and co-founder of AeroDIODE, shared insights on building a company through technology licensing, while Reinhard Windemuth, Sales Director at Panasonic discussed the role of intrapreneurship in large organizations. Jose Valverde Sanchez, Engineer from HOLOEYE Photonics AG, involved in technology development, highlighted the importance of industry requirements comprehension, and Peter Zghaib PhD student at Mines Paris - PSL provided a fresh, tech-focused viewpoint. All the participants highlight the lack of communication and comprehension between academic and industry, and this is also where EPIC can play a role. Key takeaways from the discussion included: - The challenge of turning lab innovations into industrial applications requires early alignment with market needs and closer collaboration between academia and industry : bridging Research and Industry remain highly improtant. - Licensing and starting a new company offers distinct opportunities and challenges, with successful examples discussed in both areas: many opportunities exist when it comes to transfer a technology from the lab to the industry. - Large companies can drive innovation by encouraging intrapreneurship, allowing employees to develop new ideas while utilizing the company’s resources. Thanks to Elina Koistinen and EOS - European Optical Society for the opportunity and see you next time :) EPIC - EUROPEAN PHOTONICS INDUSTRY CONSORTIUM

How innovation happens? The process of technology innovation is well understood – in the developed world at least – and broadly comprises a set of activities that include research, development, demonstration, and deployment. Mapping innovation in the real world is clearly more complex, and is highly specific to the technology and players involved. Attached Figure clarified the key stages to energy-technology innovation in a market economy. Finally : It is important to recognise that the innovation process is non-linear - there is interaction between its various stages.

🎉 Congratulations to Luca Arnaboldi for his recent grant success! The University of Birmingham, in collaboration with X-SEED Technology, is conducting an early-stage feasibility study on the application AI-powered knowledge graphs for the automotive and mobility sectors. The industry currently faces challenges stemming from rapid shifts towards autonomous, connected, electrified, and shared mobility (ACES). Initial interviews with industry experts and analysis of market trends underscore the need for advanced technological solutions to address these transformations. Our approach aims to map critical industry components, facilitating data-driven decision-making, skill development, and stakeholder collaboration. Potential commercial applications include business intelligence solutions for optimizing operations, personalized skill development platforms for emerging technologies, and tailored training services. The project will also foster research-industry collaboration, enabling joint ventures and technology transfers.

🚀 Transforming research results into successful industrial application proves to be a constant challenge. The topic of #industrial uptake was central during the #Indtech conference. This event took place in Namur from the 3rd to the 5th of June and was about industrial technologies and their current challenges. It gathered scientists from all around Europe around conferences, exhibitions and B2B meetings. 💡 Several topics were at the heart of this event like the European #competitiveness, #advancedmaterials? European #partnership or even open innovation test beds. In the exhibition area, European projects were presented and TECHTERA took the opportunity to present the MC4 project. Other partners like CIDETEC were also present and showed their support by visiting the booth. 👉 To know more about what was said during this event, don't forget to check the full article on the MC4 project webpage: https://lnkd.in/edTwiJNg Elena Jubete European Health and Digital Executive Agency (HaDEA) Processes4Planet Partnership Partners: PROFACTOR IRES i-RED Infrarot Systeme GmbH CHOMARAT Group GAIKER Technology Centre VDL Fibertech Industries BV Noma Resins sp.zo.o. The power of technology is truly remarkable when it becomes a force for good. A Swedish engineer has taken a bold step in the world of healthcare with a suit that leverages electrical stimulation to aid those battling Parkinson’s disease and stroke. This innovation isn’t just about physical recovery, it’s about giving people back their independence and quality of life. As we continue to explore the boundaries of technology, it's clear that we're only scratching the surface of what's possible. Imagine what else the future holds.
