First, a debt of gratitude is extended to the tireless engagement that John has brought to this important activity. Our collective industry should give him great thanks for his commitment and fearless efforts. His work has truly led to a broad understanding of the importance and capabilities that belong to Advanced Television Systems Committee (ATSC) and their #ATSC3 standards work. At the same time...welcome Dave Arland. You have a breadth of understanding of this industry and the related ecosystem that will further the cause and further success! #nextgentv #nextgenbroadcast #AWARN #AEI

Unlike many association executives perhaps, John was willing to address the facts. Advanced Emergency Informing will not get off the ground until it is configured for use by actual emergency managers, not just TV meteorologists. And ATSC 3.0's vast radio capabilities must become available to the nation's community LPFM radio stations at prices these non-commercial broadcasters can afford!

I read this article early this morning and I was not aware of the issues in this area. We all read from the FCC how great ATSC 3.0 and what it will bring. But in the end, they have failed us all. Thank you to John and others that continue the fight with us.

Congratulations to both Mr. Lawson and Dave Arland! I concur with Mark's comments that you both have worked tirelessly to champion ATSC 3.0 and stepping into new and existing leadership roles will serve NextGen TV well.
