🌟 Enhancing Lives with Compassionate GERD Care 🌟 As a PSW, I’m dedicated to enhancing my residents’ quality of life. Recently, I helped a resident manage GERD (Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease) with simple but effective strategies: 🍴 Diet Management: To reduce acid reflux triggers, I encouraged small, frequent meals to avoid overloading the stomach. Additionally, I emphasized slow eating and thorough chewing, which help ease digestion and minimize pressure on the lower esophageal sphincter (LES). 🛌 Effective Positioning: After meals, I ensured she remained upright for at least 30 minutes, supporting gravity’s role in digestion. At night, I adjusted her bed to elevate her upper body by 6–8 inches, reducing the likelihood of stomach acid entering the esophagus. 💡 Small steps make a big difference in compassionate care! 💬 Let's connect! What strategies have you found effective for managing GERD or similar conditions? Let’s share and grow together! #Healthcare #PSWLife #GERDManagement #CompassionInCare #AgingWell
