Sudan is now facing the world's largest displacement crisis, with 150,000 fatalities and 12.2 million displaced. The conflict between military factions has deepened an already strained region, with 79% of internally displaced persons (IDPs) in Darfur. Al Fasher, under siege by the RSF, is witnessing severe food insecurity, and mass atrocities are feared if the city falls, particularly against the Masalit community, echoing the region's history of ethnically motivated violence. Is #Sudan a forgotten war? A war that started with counter-accusations has caused enormous human suffering. Two warring generals from the Rapid Support Forces(RSF) and the Sudan Army continue a war with due disregard for human rights or lives. On various quarters, it is estimated that 20k - 150k lives have been lost, 7 million Sudanese have been driven to starvation, and 1.8 million of the 8.7 million displaced have moved to neighbouring countries. This tragedy has dire situations have been complicated by an outbreak of war on the border of Chad and Sudan, an outbreak of hunger and diseases which has led to over 3.5 million facing malnutrition. Africa, we must stand with Sudan, the people of Sudan. The war is ravaging everything we know about Sudan. The ongoing Sudan conflict now represents the largest displacement crisis in the world, with approximately 12.2 million displaced to neighbouring countries. Additionally, 15,000 casualties have been reported since the conflict broke out in April 2023. The displacement of civilians is putting a strain on its seven neighbouring states, which are constantly receiving an influx of refugees, while the majority of the population in these states are also facing acute food insecurity. https://lnkd.in/dphdJNDc

🌊When nature and things of the 💧everyday are manufactured into weapons of mass destruction. 📢A chilling read and powerful research. Please do take a moment to dive into this report from some of my amazing colleagues. Please share with your networks. 🍉"The systematic nature of these actions has created conditions unsuitable for life in Gaza... This report presents a detailed analysis of how the Government of Israel has systematically weaponized water against the Palestinians in its latest assault on Gaza, raising grave concerns of human rights violations and breaches of international law. It highlights ongoing violations of international laws, showing how the Government of Israel has used water deprivation to dehumanize and ultimately threaten Palestinian lives since the 1993 Oslo Accords. This culminates, in a brutal fashion, in the current military operation in Gaza." 📚Full report accessible in English here: https://lnkd.in/eHVh-iz9

Which of the following did you hear about this week? 1. Sudan - 450 people were killed this week alone. The conflict began April 2023 with over 14,000 killed, more than 50% of Sudan's population (25 million people) require humanitarian aid and there are 8.6 million people displaced. 2. Congo - ~20 people were killed in bomb attacks on displacement camps in eastern DRC. Over 20 million people need humanitarian aid and there are a million people displaced since the conflict began in 2004. 3. Ukraine - A shopping center in Kharakiv was bombed by Russia, resulting in 20 deaths. Total Ukrainian death toll is 30,000 people since the Russian invasion began in Feb' 2022. There are 12 million displaced Ukrainians. 4. Yemen - 37 people were killed in airstrikes conducted by the US and UK on Houthi targets. The split between civilian and militant casualties is unknown. 5. Gaza - 30 people were killed in Rafah when a Hamas ammunition warehouse exploded causing peripheral tent damage, following a strike by the IDF on two senior Hamas terrorists - The world is in full meltdown mode, the media is in overdrive, and Israel is catching more heat than a chef caught using canned soup in a five-star restaurant. #NoJewsNoNews #DoubleStandards #SelectiveOutrage #MediaBias #AllLivesMatter #GlobalHypocrisy

Updates On Sudan, disturbing content alert, please be aware. Although I have refrained from sharing updates about Sudan as part of my personal journey of healing, the past week has brought forth profoundly disturbing reports from friends, family, and various media channels. The communications detail shocking levels of violence and attacks carried out by the Rapid Support Forces—a paramilitary militia—against civilians in multiple villages in Al Jazirah state. To describe these atrocities accurately, they amount to nothing less than ethnic cleansing and tribal-motivated genocide. In the village of Al-Seriha in northern Jazirah, nearly all of the male residents have been killed, alongside dozens of women and girls. This tragedy is compounded by widespread reports of sexual violence inflicted upon women and girls, which has been documented and widely communicated. In sharing this message, I call for one urgent response: the imperative to protect civilians facing such relentless and targeted violence. While I am fully aware of the stretched and challenging response dynamics within which humanitarian protection agencies in Sudan are operating, it is imperative that the broader humanitarian protection sector takes decisive action towards the emergency in Sudan. Though tragically overdue, we must strive to protect the lives and dignity of these civilians—both in these villages and across the entire country. #Sudan #HumanitarianProtection ##KeepEyesOnSudan #SudanWar #RSFCrims

We must remember that alongside the escalating civil war, Syria is also profoundly affected by the worsening regional situation. Since the onset of the war in Gaza, Israel has intensified its attacks within Syria, resulting in the loss of civilian lives and the destruction of vital infrastructure. Adding yet another layer to the ongoing civil war and an already dire and worsening crisis, displacing millions and inflicting immense humanitarian suffering. Let us not forget the Syrian people. https://lnkd.in/gcKf4GWJ

On April 15th, 2023, violent clashes erupted between the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) and the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) in Sudan, resulting in the displacement of more than 10 million people, including internally displaced people (IDPs), asylum seekers and refugees. This conflict exacerbated many of Sudan’s existing challenges, including ongoing conflicts, disease outbreaks, economic and political instability and climate emergencies. To add to the above suffering the heavy rains and floods during the past few days across Sudan give the situation which is already very difficult more complications. Sudan is a neglected crisis it receives disproportionately little attention. The civilians here feels like they are suffering alone. Their plight hasn't captured global interest, unlike the situation in Ukraine or Gaza. Please support & pray for Sudan.
