I am incredibly happy about the publication of a significant research paper in our group. The paper, titled "Anaerobic Fluidized Bed Membrane Bioreactor with Multichanneled Biocarrier for Carbon-Neutral, Decentralized Greywater Treatment," has been published in the prestigious journal ACS ES&T Engineering https://lnkd.in/ggZp_duB This study introduces an innovative anaerobic fluidized bed membrane bioreactor (AFMBR) system integrated with a multichanneled biocarrier to treat greywater. The research highlights the potential of this system to achieve carbon neutrality in decentralized wastewater treatment settings, presenting a sustainable solution for water reuse in urban and remote environments.

The paper "High-throughput parallel testing of ten photoelectrochemical cells for water splitting: case study on the effects of temperature in hematite photoanodes" in collaboration with Dr. I. Holmes-Gentle, Dr. Franky Esteban Bedoya Lora and prof. Sophia Haussener is now available on Sustainable Energy and Fuels https://lnkd.in/gJ3yABQE Energy #RSCEnergy Royal Society of Chemistry Taking inspiration from battery research, the first setup to test ten photoelectrochemical cells in parallel whilst controlling temperature was developed. Using ten identical custom-designed PEC cells, the effects of temperature from 26 to 65°C in tin-doped hematite photoanodes thin films prepared by spray pyrolysis were investigated through cyclic voltammetry and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy as a case study. The main conclusion of the work is that although an exponential decrease of surface states charge with temperature, a reduction in the photovoltage produced mainly penalized the energy conversion efficiency in the semiconductor-electrolyte junction. This reduction is mainly associated to a greater increase of surface-state recombination than charge transfer. Work performed at LRESE Laboratory (EPFL School of Engineering, EPFL) and financially supported by Solar2Chem Project and Swiss National Science Foundation SNSF.
