Even after more than a decade, iii Points Music Festival still feels like Miami's best-kept secret. The annual music festival continues to bring underground and left-field acts to the Magic City for two days of nonstop performances. Taking over the Mana Wynwood compound and the adjacent streets, the festival somehow manages to feel expansive in its footprint while still delivering an intimate experience. You aren't fighting thousands of people for a good spot, and traversing the grounds from stage to stage is mostly painless. It seems, however, the word is out. Pollstar, the trade publication for the live music industry, recently announced the nominees for its 36th annual Pollstar Awards. III Points is nominated for "Music Festival of the Year (Global; under 30K attendance)". It will vie for the award against fellow nominees All Things Go in Columbia, Maryland; Inkcarceration Music & Tattoo Festival in Mansfield, Ohio; Newport Folk Festival in Newport, Rhode Island; Ohana Festival in Dana Point, California; and Two Step Inn in Georgetown, Texas. 📰 Read the full story:

This forecast presents a significant challenge for the outdoor music festival scene. Will the rain ruin this summer’s events? Not necessarily. Recent events like the City Splash Festival demonstrated that even heavy downpours can't dampen the spirit of music lovers. Despite the rain, festival-goers enjoyed vibrant performances from artists such as Shenseea, Beenie Man, Capleton, and Busy Signal, making the audience forget about the mud and weather (Skiddle). Looking ahead, Glastonbury 2024 is rumored to feature an incredible lineup, including Dua Lipa, Coldplay, SZA, Shania Twain, LCD Soundsystem, Burna Boy, and many more. Additionally, there are speculations about The Killers, Rihanna, Foo Fighters, and AC/DC joining the roster (LBC). Very interesting article that I just found. Pitchfork's annual music festival in Chicago is not going to return in 2025 after 19 years of having the festival. Pitchfork did not state any reasons on why they canceled the festival, but one theory could be financial issues, due to inflation and the rising costs to put on a big festival. They also didn't say if they were going to be hosting the festival, like in Paris, London, or Mexico City; like in years past. David Philp, I think you would like this article. Check it out! #musicbiz #livemusic #livemusicnews

Check out a recent report out of Australia on the music festival sector, it makes for some interesting reading. The findings suggest that only half of Australia's festivals are profitable. The reasons for this include rising operational costs, lack of funding or grants, extreme weather events, insurance, consumer buying behaviours, and complex and inconsistent regulatory requirements.
