🌍 Strengthening Cooperation with IOM in Uzbekistan 🌍 Today, the leadership of the Migration Agency of Uzbekistan had the pleasure of meeting Andrew Jerimy Gray, the newly appointed Head of the International Organization for Migration (IOM) Mission in Uzbekistan. The meeting provided an opportunity to share insights into the recent reforms in our country's migration sector, including the activities of the Migration Agency established under the Presidential Decree. Discussions highlighted the measures undertaken to ensure the rights of our citizens temporarily working abroad and to organize their migration processes in a safe and systematic manner. Particular emphasis was placed on the expanded labor migration geography in recent years, which now includes more advanced economies, creating better opportunities for Uzbek workers. Andrew Jerimy Gray expressed his strong support for forming a joint working group between IOM and the Migration Agency, marking a promising step toward enhancing collaboration. We look forward to fostering this partnership to achieve sustainable and secure migration practices. #Migration #InternationalCooperation #IOM #Uzbekistan #LaborMigration

A Fruitful Collaboration with IOM - Promoting Regular & Assisted Migration (PRAYAS) It was a privilege to host delegates from the International Organisation for Migration (IOM), UN Migration, at our headquarters to discuss the critical initiative PRAYAS (Promoting Regular & Assisted Migration for Youth and Skilled Professionals). We explored pathways to ensure safe, legal and orderly migration for India's youth and skilled professionals, emphasizing the importance of regular migration channels. IOM's vision of developing a comprehensive roadmap for improved coordination between the State and Central Government is commendable. This initiative aims to foster the exchange of best practices between states and enhance collaboration with the Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India. It will engage key stakeholders, including recruitment agencies, student counseling services, civil society organizations, researchers and importantly, returned migrant workers and students, ensuring a holistic approach to migration management. At Seagull International, we are committed to supporting this mission, working closely with IOM to facilitate safe and legal migration. Together, we can unlock opportunities for India's talented professionals globally. #IOM #UNMigration #PRAYAS #SafeMigration #SkilledProfessionals #GlobalOpportunities #SeagullInternational #MigrationManagement

What drives Iraqis to consider migrating, and what patterns do these movements follow? 📄 This final report from the MIRAMI project offers a comprehensive overview of the intentions, aspirations, and prevailing trends among Iraqi nationals. By understanding what drives migration, our research aims to guide the creation of information campaigns able to clearly outline the risks of irregular migration and detail legal pathways and rights in destination countries. 💡 Our findings reveal varied influences on migration decisions: especially young people in Dohuk and Erbil are actively preparing to migrate, driven by economic struggles, political instability, and restricted freedoms. Family often discourages migration, whereas friends and community leaders generally encourage it. But the tendency to migrate irregularly is low. Interestingly, while potential migrants feel well-informed about their legal rights, they lack detailed knowledge about asylum procedures and legal statuses, as well as dealing with law enforcement. Social media emerges as a crucial source of information, especially among the youth. 📌 Dive into our full report to learn more about the complex dynamics of migration from Iraq, uncover the main drivers and deterrents, and explore how this knowledge can shape effective information campaigns: https://lnkd.in/gCqMnbEc 🔎 To learn more about the MIRAMI project and ICMPD’s work, visit our project page: https://lnkd.in/dveMBrsJ Christina Khoury Marco Mogiani, PhD João Reis ICMPD Silk Routes International Centre for Migration Policy Development (ICMPD)
