It was a pleasure to be on set with Saprea Managing Director, Chris Yadon, MPA and Author/survivor of child sexual abuse, April Daniels, announcing their new partnership and proving that with the right support and help, there is light, and life is worth living for all survivors. “Chris Yadon, managing director at Saprea, underscores the importance of creating safe spaces for survivors to openly discuss their experiences, which reduces shame, nurtures self-compassion, and empowers other survivors to share their voice. “Empowering survivors not only liberates individuals but also fuels societal and cultural change, breaking cycles of abuse for future generations.” “I knew abuse would always be part of my life, just not the main part of my life, and it doesn’t define who I am. My focus is helping survivors recognize the value of life," remarked April Daniels, co-author of Paperdolls & Cowboy Boots, a book that spotlights the journey of two women in Utah who were connected by a common perpetrator in different ways. Daniels, who co-authored the book with Carol Scott in 1992 (now passed), has pledged 30% of the sales proceeds from the January 2024 revised book release to Saprea for the next year. 🌟 We Did It! 🌟 Thanks to the generosity of so many, we’ve reached our original goal of raising $1,500 to support Carousel Child Advocacy Center's child sexual abuse prevention efforts! 🙌 To celebrate this milestone – I’m asking for $500 more to keep the momentum going 😎 Race Day is November 16th, so we’re on the clock! 🏃♀️ Honestly, I didn't realize how physically and emotionally demanding this journey would be. From running each night after our youngest fell asleep, to turning years of processed pain into written words, each step has been incredibly challenging. But staying true to my purpose, because I promised PUBLICLY I would, I pushed through the discomfort, self-doubt, and fears. And the benefits? Powerful, I will be forever grateful for this opportunity. 💪❤️ Throughout this Prevention Charity Run, I’ve shared parts of my journey in an effort to raise awareness about the lasting effects of untreated childhood trauma and the healing power of empathy. My story describes how child sexual abuse and trauma created a foundation of shame, which left me vulnerable to revictimization and years of domestic violence. It was the kindness, compassion, and support of others that gave me the strength to break the cycle and reclaim my life, without which I would not be here today. We all have the ability to be this source of strength for others! Posts to date: Week 1: Shelter Memory Week 2: Vulnerability - Delayed Posts Week 3: Effects of Childhood Trauma (3 parts) Week 4: Down the Aisle (2 parts) Week 5: Daddy’s Girl Week 6: Self Defense, Transformation Coming Soon: Freedom (Final Chapter) Race Day: Did She Make It?? With just 2 days left, I’m asking for your help to raise another $500 for this important cause. Child sexual abuse is preventable, but it takes funding, support, and community to make it happen. Help us hit this new goal of $2,000 and keep pushing for change! 💙 Every contribution, no matter the size, matters. Please consider donating and sharing this post to spread the word. 👉 Donate Here to Support Child Sexual Abuse Prevention https://lnkd.in/ezrjPppi #ShatterSilence #ChildSexualAbusePrevention #PaintoPurpose #EveryWomansMarathon

Project Weber/RENEW (PWR) is #RhodeIsland’s largest peer-led harm reduction and recovery organization. We provide essential services for individuals who have been systemically pushed to the margins—those at risk of overdose, living with or at risk for HIV/Hep C, experiencing homelessness, current/former sex workers, and gender-diverse and trans people. We build meaningful relationships, offer peer-led support, and fight for systemic change. We’re also proud to be opening the nation’s first state-sanctioned Overdose Prevention Center in the coming weeks—an essential step in saving lives. With so much at stake, we need your support more than ever. This year’s theme, "Everyone Has a Story," reflects our commitment to helping individuals live with safety, dignity, and hope. Your donation will provide harm reduction supplies; basic needs resources like water, food, and clothing; peer support; and for those who choose it - recovery services, empowering our clients to live safely on their terms.
