14 November is World Diabetes Day! 🟡 Type 1 diabetes is not preventable. The exact cause of type 1 diabetes is also unknown. In this condition, the pancreas makes little or no insulin*. 🟠 Type 2 diabetes is often preventable through a healthy diet, regular physical activity, maintaining a healthy body weight & avoiding tobacco use. In this condition, there are primarily two problems. The pancreas does not produce enough insulin and cells respond poorly to insulin and take in less sugar. both types cause longer term complications and affects many major organs, including the heart, blood vessels, nerves, eyes and kidneys. Also, factors that increase the risk of diabetes are risk factors for other serious diseases. Diabetes can be different for everyone - every lived experience matters. *Insulin is a hormone the body uses to allow sugar (glucose) to enter cells to produce energy. #diabetes #worlddiabetesday

It’s World Diabetes Day! What is Diabetes? Diabetes is a condition where blood sugar levels are too high. This happens when the body cannot produce enough insulin, cannot use insulin effectively, or is unable to produce any insulin at all. There are two main types: Type 1 and Type 2. As we age, managing diabetes can become more complex. Older adults may need to make different health decisions, from adjusting dietary habits to finding suitable ways to stay active, compared to younger individuals with diabetes. Bookmark & share this. Diabetes Awareness Month. A carbohydrate-restricted diet for diabetes dates back to the 1700s. People were smarter back then, unlike today, where we are encouraged to eat carbs and rely on pills. Did anyone say that low carb for diabetes is a Fad Diet? Please show this post to them.
