September 19 is Aortic Dissection Awareness Day🩸 Arteries are tubes that carry blood from the heart to the rest of the body. Arterial aneurysm, dissection, and rupture are key features of vascular Ehlers-Danlos syndrome (vEDS). There is also a greater risk for these complications in classical EDS (cEDS), kyphoscoliotic EDS (kEDS), dermatosparaxis EDS (dEDS), and periodontal EDS (pEDS). These complications can affect minor and major arteries, including the aorta, which is the largest artery in the body. 🔴Arterial aneurysm An arterial aneurysm is a bulge or swelling in the wall of an artery. Aneurysms occur when blood flow puts pressure on a weak spot in the blood vessel wall and causes it to swell. 🔴Arterial dissection An arterial dissection is a tear in the inner wall of an artery. Blood from the artery flows into the tear and separates the layers of the artery wall, creating a weak spot that may lead to a life-threatening leak. 🔴Arterial rupture An arterial rupture is a complete tear through the artery wall that creates a hole and allows blood to leak out of the artery. Learn more about these complications and strategies, and the different types of EDS, here: https://lnkd.in/ej8YwQPQ #ThinkAorta

At Pulmonology On Air, Dr Sammy Onyancha demonstrated the simultaneous use of dual single-use bronchoscopes in diagnosing a solid peripheral pulmonary lesion in the Right Upper Lobe, segment 3, measuring 1.2 mm. This technique combined two single-use bronchoscopes (5.0 mm and 2.7 mm) with radial EBUS and fluoroscopy. Key steps included: ⚪ Navigation and hemostasis using the 5.0mm bronchoscope. ⚪ Lesion confirmation with radial EBUS. ⚪ Tissue sampling with a 1.1 mm cryoprobe via the 2.7 mm bronchoscope, guided by radial EBUS and fluoroscopy. 👉 Catch up on the full session and see the technique in action: https://lnkd.in/eGR3DCSK #PulmonologyOnAir #Cryobiopsy #Pulmonology #AdvancedDiagnostics

Hi everyone!!! Here I Like to share an article about "Spirometer" #snsinstitutions #snsdesignthinkers #designthinking A spirometer is an apparatus for measuring the volume of air inspired and expired by the lungs. A spirometer measures ventilation, the movement of air into and out of the lungs. The spirogram will identify two different types of abnormal ventilation patterns, obstructive and restrictive. There are various types of spirometers that use a number of different methods for measurement (pressure transducers, ultrasonic, water gauge). A spirometer is the main piece of equipment used for basic Pulmonary Function Tests (PFTs). Lung diseases such as asthma, bronchitis, and emphysema may be ruled out from the tests. In addition, a spirometer often is used for finding the cause of shortness of breath, assessing the effect of contaminants on lung function, the effect of medication, and evaluating progress for disease treatment. Diagnose certain types of lung disease (such as COVID-19, bronchitis, and emphysema) Find the cause of shortness of breath Measure whether exposure to chemicals at work affects lung function Check lung function before someone has surgery Assess the effect of medication Measure progress in disease treatment

Today,we admitted a 5 yr old boy who was presented to the our hospital for evaluation of the fever (10 days)neck pain (2 days)and mildly restlessness, upon the physical examination and history,I suppose to MIS-C syndrome ,so echo was done and revealed the mildly to moderate mitral valve regurgitation, mildly global pericardial effusion and moderate left coronary artery dilation, these were in favor of cardiovascular inflammation. Any way ,you must have seen many similar ones,so I prefer to discuss abut his neck radiograph ,which is done yesterday because of the neck pain. The Keys points of neck radiograph : 1)In AP view the ,the first visible neck vertbra is C3 or C4,while in the lateral radiograph ,the first is C1. 2)The first chest rib is seen above the clavicle 3)you see a normal mildly narrowing of the airways,it’s glottis . 4)The number four shows the trachea 5) The number five shows the esophagus 6) The number six shows the epiglottis (epiglottis is a movable lid just above the larynx ,it prevents food entering the airway) 7) The number seven shows the oropharynx 8) The number eight shows the hypopharynx #cardilogy #radiography

ICYMI: Cornea Update: Idiopathic Fusarium Sclerouveitis: A Case Report: Purpose: To report a successfully managed case of idiopathic Fusarium sclerouveitis in a healthy patient with no identifiable risk factors. Methods: We describe a case of a 79-year-old man who presented with right-sided eye, facial, and head pain. Initial examination revealed temporal scleral thinning, inflammation, and anterior chamber cell/flare. Cultures were positive for Fusarium species. Results: The patient was treated with sub-Tenon amphotericin, intrascleral voriconazole, surgical debridement, Rose Bengal photodynamic therapy, systemic voriconazole and posaconazole, and topical natamycin. The infection resolved and the patient's visual acuity improved to 20/40. Conclusions: Fusarium sclerouveitis can occur without clear risk factors. This case highlights the importance of an aggressive, multimodal treatment approach for successful management. http://dlvr.it/TCf0JG #Cornea #Ophthalmology #Ophthotwitter

Typical symptoms of Retinal Artery Occlusion (RAO) include sudden, painless vision loss, with CRAO causing complete loss in one eye and BRAO affecting only part of the vision. Symptoms may also include distorted vision or blind spots. Immediate medical attention is crucial to prevent further complications and potential stroke.
