We did not expect the overwhelmingly positive feedback from schools, teachers and students where we've conducted 'Veilig Bewust' workshops. “When we started, we just wanted to make a difference”, Mathijs de Vries expresses in this interview. We've witnessed firsthand the impact of empowering students with essential cyber awareness skills with a Veilig Bewust certificate. Inspired by this success, we're eager to expand our workshops to even more schools, reaching a wider audience and fostering a culture of digital safety and inclusivity. www.veiligbewust.nl Together, let's continue to educate and empower the next generation for a safer online world. #CyberEducation #DigitalSafety"

🚨 Anonymous threats in schools are on the rise, crippling daily operations and creating fear in communities. In 2022 alone, schools saw over 6,000 threats—most posted anonymously online. What can schools do to respond better? The Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) lays out 6 key steps: 1️⃣ Raise awareness about reporting threats early—don’t repost, report them. 2️⃣ Build strong partnerships with law enforcement and mental health professionals. 3️⃣ Use multidisciplinary teams to investigate threats and decide on student interventions. 4️⃣ Find balance in responses to avoid unintentional student trauma. 5️⃣ Triage threats with law enforcement—context matters. 6️⃣ Keep improving preparedness through drills and clear communication with families. 🛡️ Students’ online safety depends on a proactive, community-driven response. Educating kids about digital behavior and reporting harmful content is crucial. At SurfWisely, our goal is to help schools stay ahead of online threats with digital literacy tools and gamified learning on online safety. Cyber threats are a growing concern for young people, but behind the statistics are real stories. Meet personas that inspire our mission to create safer digital environments for students and schools. Disclaimer: These personas don't represent the entire society. During our research, we focused mainly on high school teachers and didn’t have the chance to conduct in-depth interviews with students directly. However, creating these imaginary high-school students helped us create a broader picture of the challenges and needs for whom we're designing supportive materials. Our main objective? To understand the real issues and pain points high school students face, ensure the resources we create truly address their needs. Interestingly, safe internet use and managing incidents were not the top concerns raised. Instead, deeper issues like cyberbullying, privacy concerns, dealing with peer behaviour, and supporting mental well-being emerged as priorities. 💡 With Mateusz Pękala, we’re dedicated to creating a more cyber-aware society, one step at a time. Are there any parents of teenagers here? Experts? Irina Tkeshelashvili, Martyna Wilk? What do you think is the biggest digital challenge students face today? Share your thoughts in the comments! 👇 #cybersecurity #education #cyberawareness #studentsafety #onlinehabits #CyberAwareness #Education #StudentSafety #Cyberbullying #DigitalWellbeing #ErasmusPlus #cybersec #CoventryUniversityWroclaw #CURIE #Coventry Project No. 2023-2-PL01-KA210-VET-000176822 is implemented as KA210-VET - Small-scale Partnership in Vocational Education and Training (VET) - Vocational Education and Training. 🚨 Attention Parents! 🚨 What You Need to Know About the Dark Web The dark web is a hidden part of the internet where illegal activities, including child exploitation and trafficking, can occur. Predators use this space to target and groom children. Why It Matters: • Anonymity: The dark web allows users to remain anonymous, making it difficult to track and catch predators. • Accessibility: With the right tools, anyone can access the dark web, including children. Rule: Educate your children about the dangers of the dark web and monitor their internet usage. Tips: 1. Use Parental Controls: Implement strong parental controls on all devices to restrict access to the dark web. 2. Open Dialogue: Regularly discuss internet safety with your children and encourage them to share if they encounter anything suspicious. 📚 Our Books: • “Ready. Set. On September 30th, PESACO will be joining the renowned EATV show DADAZ to delve into an important conversation about whether women are being adequately educated on how to prevent cyberbullying in the online space. As an organization actively involved in promoting cyber safety, we will bring to the table key insights from our extensive experience working on the ground. Our focus has been on raising awareness about online security and equipping individuals with the tools they need to protect themselves and others in the digital world. During the discussion, we will also spotlight our ongoing project addressing the impact of cyberbullying on adolescents in Ubungo, Dar es Salaam. This initiative specifically targets secondary school students, with a focus on young girls, who are often disproportionately affected by online harassment. Through this project, PESACO aims to create a safer and more supportive online environment for these students by educating them on responsible digital behavior, encouraging them to report incidents of cyberbullying, and promoting kindness and empathy in online interactions. We are eager to share our findings and experiences on DADAZ and contribute to the broader dialogue on the importance of cyber safety education for women and young people alike.
