Advancing One Health in Europe 🌱 The interconnected health of humans, animals, and environment is at the heart of the One Health, an approach increasingly recognized for addressing today’s complex challenges. I would like to share two recent publications that showcase Europe’s leadership in turning this vision into action: 1️⃣ SAPEA’s Evidence Review Report for the European Commission explores how to operationalize One Health across EU policies. From pandemic prevention to biodiversity, it highlights the need for cross-sector collaboration, integrated governance, and innovative tools to measure progress. 2️⃣ The WHO European Region's Adaptation Guide provides a roadmap for adapting One Health to local contexts. It emphasizes practical strategies to enhance resilience, combat climate-related health risks, and support collaboration across sectors and disciplines. These documents set an exemplary standards that other regions can also use. Also, they underscore the importance of holistic health management, bridging gaps between science, policy, and society. 🔗 Explore these resources here: SAPEA Report - https://lnkd.in/dkv7vdXJ WHO Euro Adaptation Guide (also available in Russian) - https://lnkd.in/dtgArEQp Let’s embrace One Health to shape a sustainable, equitable future for all! #OneHealth #GlobalHealth #Collaboration

🌍 ⚕ #WorldHealthDay – Health is a major topic for AFD Group’s action in #Georgia. The Group works on strengthening the Georgian public health system and to involve civil society in health issues. Today, more than ever, health and environment are closely linked. The Government of Georgia and its international partners are actively addressing environmental health and studying the impacts of climate change on health. The National Center for Disease Control and Public Health Georgia (NCDC) has partnered with Expertise France and the Finnish Institute for Health and Welfare (THL) to implement an EU-funded twinning project on Health Impact Assessment. The overall objective is for NCDC to align Georgian standards, guidelines and best practices with the European Commission’s environmental health risk monitoring and management. This can be achieved, with the support of Expertise France, by : improving the Georgian legal and regulatory framework for public health, implementing health impact assessments, training NCDC staff and its partners, conducting several quantitative health impact assessments of outdoor air pollution in different cities in Georgia and improving public participation and communication on the issue. #DidYouKnow - AFD Group is fully invested, in Georgia with the Human Capital Development program and all around the world, in building inclusive and adaptive health and social protection systems for the years to come, at the crossroads of the "environment" and "social bond" agendas. Indeed, building these systems is central to strategies for adapting to the effects of climate change, in order to ensure the safety, health and well-being of populations. 🌍 Honored to Speak at the 10th Annual International Conference on Public Health 🌍 I am thrilled to announce my participation in the 10th Annual International Conference on Public Health, hosted by the Athens Institute for Education & Research. It was an honor to present on the topic "Igniting Change: Tackling Zoonotic Diseases, Climate Change, and Health Inequities through Sustainable Farming and Legal Reform." Sharing this research with an international crowd of public health experts was incredibly impactful. Addressing these critical issues on a global scale is essential for building a more equitable, humane, and sustainable future. ✨Learn more here🌿: https://lnkd.in/ebqcDH3x #PublicHealth #AnimalProtection #ClimateChange #GlobalCooperation

On the 8th and 9th of October, I had the privilege of engaging in a rich discussion with experts from around the globe in the Technical Workshop on Developing Best Practices #LossandDamage #Indicators and #ReportingTools, organized by the UNEP Copenhagen Climate Centre. 🏞️ 🌊 It was inspiring to listen to experiences and challenge the status quo for measuring loss and damage (L&D) caused by climate change across key sectors such as #Health, #Infrastructure, #HumanMobility, #CulturalHeritage, #Agriculture, and #Tourism. One aspect that resonated with me as we discussed non-economic losses, such as #mentalhealthimpacts and #culturalheritageloss, is the complexity of capturing standard indicators, however the psychological toll of climate-induced events, such as trauma from displacement and the impact on social cohesion are becoming louder and we need to ensure they are incorporated into loss and damage reporting frameworks. This workshop was a powerful collective effort, and highlighted the necessity for ongoing discussions to capture a robust spectrum of impacts. The importance of finding a balance between the feasibility of measuring indicators on the ground and understanding what is practically achievable with the resources available, and how essential it is to develop methods that allow for comparability—whether regionally, globally, or locally—ensuring that we can meaningfully assess and address the diverse effects of climate change across different contexts. Big thanks to Fatemeh Bakhtiari, Julia Rocha Romero, Joshitha Sankam for organizing so well such a wonderful and needed space! 👏 #UNEP #CopenhagenClimateCentre #ClimateAction #LossAndDamage #MentalHealth

🌏 On this#OneHealthDay, CIRAD emphasises the critical importance of an integrated approach to health that recognises the interconnectedness of human, animal, and environmental well-being. To effectively address emerging health threats, it is essential to: ➡️ Co-construct integrated projects involving all stakeholders, including citizens, policymakers, researchers, and local services ➡️ Develop pilot field studies with rigorous evaluations to provide concrete evidence of the effectiveness of One Health approaches ➡️ Institutionalise and coordinate actions from local to global levels to ensure coherent and effective implementation of integrated health strategies Given the complexity of interactions between human, animal, and environmental health, interdisciplinary and multi-sectoral collaboration is essential to anticipate and respond to future health crises 🦠 CIRAD in Continental Southeast Asia PREZODE #OneHealth #PublicHealth #IntegratedHealth #Collaboration #HealthForAll

Inculcating One Health into sectorwide operations implying sharing and collaborating, to break the silo mentality. Drawing on our synergies to foster healthy populations and ecosystems. It's great to note that Food Systems Resilience Program is on boarding the One Health approach in its implementation. To actualize this, relevant stakeholders including academia, research and extension came together at Machakos University, 13-17th May to strategize. Its a sure way of getting faster results, avoiding duplication and wastage of resources. As KALRO we are determined to package accordingly to address Global Health Agenda

#EcoSaludGlobal Power of #OneHealth: the first year of Science in One Health The international journal Science in One Health (SOH), launched a year ago, is a #platform to disseminate research achievements and practical lessons in the field of One Health #globally and to achieve the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals by systematic thinking with multi-disciplinary approach to solve complex health problems. This paper reviews the efforts that SOH editorial board made in the first year to promote a #multi-disciplinary #teamwork, create a platform for exchanges of ideas, and initiate a community for One Health. SOH has received manuscripts from six continents and published 24 articles (5 in press) in the first year. SOH is devoted to providing more and more high-quality articles in One Health disciplines including One Health database, #antimicrobial resistance, #zoonotic diseases, food security, One Health governance and climate changes with their impacts. This editorial illustrated the power of Science in One Health. https://lnkd.in/dwkdREb2
