Our project is about Emergency Accident Detection. It is a system that can detect and respond to different types of accidents using sensors and communication modules. It has two scenarios: - If a vehicle is involved in a collision, the vibration sensors will detect the impact and trigger a call to the nearest ambulance and a pre-selected relative. They will also receive a text message with the location and the condition of the vehicle. (By automatically) - If a vehicle catches fire, the temperature sensors will detect the rise in temperature and trigger a call to the nearest fire station and a pre-selected relative. They will also receive a text message with the same information as in the first scenario. Two research fellowships on #VehicleDynamics and #DTwin of a urban driving scenario. At Università del Salento, Dipartimento di Ingegneria dell'Innovazione UniSalento, we are recruting two mechanical/electrical engineers within the project #JanuSIM! #JanuSIM is a driver-in-the-loop DYNAMIC #driving_simulator to perform ride, handling, ADAS simulations with a high degree of realism. The driver/passenger will be virtually/physically immersed in a #DTwin urban complex driving and #ADAS scenario, and as such will be monitored to collect his/her #health_parameters during driving. The two positions will implement the DTwin development of the driving scenario and the wearable design/acquisition/data processing setup for bioparameter collection. Collaborative project news! ARISE: Advanced AI and Robotics for Autonomous Task Performance is a new project by partners Hellenic Mediterranean University, Scuola Superiore Sant'Anna, Technische Universität Darmstadt, CEA, ALSYMEX, Plaixus, Bendabl, Centre for Research & Technology Hellas (CERTH), CONSEJO SUPERIOR DE INVESTIGACIONES CIENTÍFICAS, UBITECH, Probotica, Telekinesis, ELVAN, JEPCO and the Essex Innovation Centre (a partnership between the University of Essex and TWI), represented by TWI Hellas on the project. The mission of ARISE is to develop a robotic platform tailored to the #energy and #agriculture sectors, which are crucial drivers for European Green Deal progress, particularly focusing on automating tasks critical to #solar and #hydroponics. Off to MINExpo INTERNATIONAL 2024! My first one was back in 2008, a few months after I started working in the industry. The photos are from the 2012 expo (on the left) and of my boots today (on the right), same ones I wore back in 2012. To revers the famous quote “The joy of great quality remains long after the pain of the percived high price is forgotten”. Something we apply at A.I. LAMB. It should cost to do great work. But reflecting a bit on the years since 2008, when we were rolling out digital comms systems, RFID, Proximity Alerts were in its infancy and semi-autonomous and autonomous trucks were a cool new concept. Today we are seeing many great and relevant things converge including autonomous vehicles, electrification, decarbonisation and general digitisation of most things, and everything with a sprinkle of AI. All great and all very relevant. What I can say from the 08 expo to today, good things take time, hard and clever work, persistence and luck. Something not often afforded to most initiatives and companies. Something I firmly believe should not be rushed. Where healthy urgency gets confused and packed up in panick. A good way to look at this year’s expo is through both what’s new and what’s been there since 08. The very large players are still much the same. All have both developed and acquired new solutions. Most have endured the ups and downs of the industry and most have failed many times over in the years since 08. The good ones have evolved, the bad ones are either gone or snapped up for a bargain. None of the above mentioned solutions or new developments have changed the fact that great planning takes time, great execution requires skilled motivated people and great outcomes require a bit of all of the above including luck and timing.
