The NCJA Center for Justice Planning (CJP) team attended the Giffords Center for Violence Intervention Conference this week, joining community violence intervention workers nationwide, and from Latin America and the Caribbean. This conference brought together CVI workers, highlighting the importance of gun violence prevention, community violence reduction and intervention, as well as trauma-informed care and self care for the workers. The NCJA CJP team is working to expand equity in public safety funding to organizations that do #CVI work and bridge gaps between system partners and community based organizations. #CVIConference #gunviolence

This #NDEAM and #DisabilityHistoryMonth, we remember where we've been, but also, how far we've come. By creating the Justice Center, New York State overhauled a system that allowed abusers to commit bad acts, to move from facility to facility, and to abuse and neglect vulnerable people time and time again. Since 2013, more than 1,000 people have been barred from the service system and more than 2.5 million Staff Exclusion List checks have been completed. "Good enough," will never be "good enough" again. Learn more about the Justice Center and our commitment to protecting vulnerable populations in NY: https://lnkd.in/eu2a-ghb _

Our mission statement is more than just a set of words; it serves as a guiding force for the work we do at Rose Brooks Center. Ultimately, it answers that one fundamental question: “Why does Rose Brooks Center exist?” . You may first think it’s because people need emergency shelter. But it’s actually so much more complex. Think of it this way – if survivors of domestic violence have resources to safely leave an abusive relationship, resources to help them heal from the trauma they have experienced, and resources to land in safe, affordable housing with a means to care for themselves and their children – they are likely to break the cycle of domestic violence. . Breaking the cycle of domestic violence also means prevention programming, and advocacy work throughout our community and within our systems such as hospitals, courts, and law enforcement. Breaking the cycle means being there 24/7, educating the larger community and reminding survivors that Rose Brooks is here and they will always have access to safety and resources. . You can read more at https://lnkd.in/giryAnfH . #MissionStatement #RoseBrooksIsHere #BreakingTheCycle #SafeFutures #ViolencePrevention
