As one of the designers of today's Transition Assistance Program (TAP) for the 200,000+ military service members, plus family members that discharge annually from our military services, this is an interesting read. A couple of glaring omissions struck me as I quickly reviewed this. 1) There is no discussion or recommendations regarding what in my experience is the number one issue new veterans and their families confront, and that is a/the need to generate some form of income almost immediately, and 2) Securing timely & accurate/final decisions from the VA Veterans Benefits Administration on applications for benefits or entitlements applied for, ie., from starting their GI Bill education benefits to timely decisions on applications for disability compensation or VA approving eligibility for participation for Vocational Rehabilitation & employment program. Most immediate issues for veterans in my experience rest in their immediate lack of income following their discharge. What say you?

A new Armed Forces Carer’s Passport has been launched for military personnel who have caregiving responsibilities. It means they won’t have to renegotiate the necessary arrangements from scratch when they move between roles or have a change in manager. For more detail 👉 https://lnkd.in/eZQWvg5f Announced on Carers Rights Day, the passport acknowledges operational needs remain the priority.
