The latest episode of The 7 in 7 Show with Zack Ellison features Dr. Jackson Streeter MD, Director of University of Florida's UF Innovate | Ventures, where he manages a venture fund for the Research Foundation. Since 1985, more than 200 companies have formed by licensing technologies from the University of Florida. UF Innovate | Ventures seeks to fuel consistent growth in the number and quality of technology-based startup companies. These startups move UF inventions out of the lab and into the marketplace for the global good. UF Innovate | Ventures supports startups by developing entrepreneurs, connecting companies to potential investors, and making equity investments. Dr. Streeter was selected to lead Ventures in 2019. Previously, he was an inventor of more than 20 patented technologies, the founder and CEO of multiple startup companies, including UF startup Banyan Biomarkers, and the CEO and executive director of the Florida Technology Seed Capital Fund. Today Finnish Business Angels Network (FiBAN), Timo Ahopelto from Suomen startup-yhteisö, Keith Bonnici from Tesi and Riku Asikainen from FVCA - Pääomasijoittajat met the Commander of Puolustusvoimat - Försvarsmakten - Finnish Defence Forces General Janne Jaakkola. We discussed how to create and develop collaboration models between the Defense Forces' innovation functions and startups. And indeed, we had ideas 😁.
