Toyin thought she had lost everything ,her voice, her strength, her hope. But then she found a shelter that did more than provide safety. It gave her tools to heal, a community to lean on, and the courage to dream of a better tomorrow. Survivors of gender-based violence, like Toyin, need more than just healing ,they need empowerment. Support networks, from shelters to counseling centers, are lifelines that help survivors rebuild their lives step by step. At the heart of this work are local organizations tirelessly creating safe spaces and restoring dignity. But they can’t do it alone. November was Domestic Violence Awareness Month, but the work to support survivors continues. This holiday season, we’re hosting the 4th Annual Purse Full of Hope donation drive to benefit women and children affected by domestic violence. Sadly, many will spend the holidays in shelters, having fled their homes with nothing but the clothes on their backs in search of safety.
