🚀 NEVERMORE project boosting the city of Aledo, Spain The municipality of Aledo, Spain, is currently implementing various #sustainableprojects, benefitting from #EUfunds. Among such projects, there is NEVERMORE, aimed at supporting excellence in climate research. With a total budget of 213,750 euros, the Region of Murcia, partner of the project, is being analysed as an example of a Mediterranean region with a #desertclimate to identify its #climaterisks and #vulnerabilities, and develop corresponding participatory processes at local level. Aledo will also benefit from investments to implement or improve projects of separate collection systems for #biowaste, #textiles and #usedcookingoil. This subsidy is within the framework of the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan, funded by the European Union-Next Generation EU. 👉 To read more on Aledo: https://lnkd.in/dWiZ_QEZ 💡 To discover NEVERMORE project: https://lnkd.in/dR-d7r4R alda* - European Association for Local Democracy | Fondazione Bruno Kessler - FBK | CMCC Foundation - Centro Euro Mediterraneo sui Cambiamenti Climatici | Energikontor Norr | Instituto de Fomento de la Región de Murcia | NCSR "DEMOKRITOS" | Provincia Autonoma di Trento | RINA | SIMAVI Software Imagination & Vision

Green Urban Spaces: Solutions for Climate Resilience 🌿 🌍 Why Nature-Based Solutions? Climate change is creating increasingly serious challenges in urban areas, such as heat island effects, prolonged droughts, and more frequent summer wildfires. The INFIRE project addresses these challenges by implementing nature-based solutions that contribute to more resilient, sustainable, and healthier cities. 🔧 REGEA and the Pilot Project in Croatia As the project coordinator, REGEA oversees the implementation of pilot activities in both Croatia and Portugal. In Croatia, a biosolar roof is being installed on the building of the Karlovac City Library. This innovative solution combines renewable energy technologies with green surfaces, reducing emissions, improving energy efficiency, and enhancing the quality of urban living. 🌱 What’s Happening in Portugal? In the pilot municipalities of Setúbal, Sesimbra, and Palmela, the following activities are underway: ▪️Development of green schoolyards for children and young people ▪️Creation of green corridors to connect urban green spaces ▪️Tree planting and establishment of community gardens as gathering spaces for residents 🔧 What are the Goals of the INFIRE Project? Mitigating the heat island effect 🌡️ Enhancing biodiversity and improving ecosystem quality 🌳 Creating accessible and functional green spaces for all community members 👩👩👧👦 📍 Beyond implementation, the project provides support to public institutions for more effective planning and financing of climate adaptation measures. #interregeuromed #infireproject #enegytransition

📆¡SAVE THE DATE! 📌The LIFE COSTAdapta project will be present next Tuesday, 16 July at 17h00, at Uni Climática, an event that will be held from 15 to 19 July 2024 and will focus on specialised training in climate and biodiversity. In this fifth edition, Uni Climática is dedicated to adaptation to the impacts of climate change. 🔝Patricia del Mar Caro Ruiz, from the Universidad de Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, member of the coordination team of the LIFE COSTAdapta Project, will present the project that seeks to address the adaptation of the coast of Gran Canaria to sea level rise through an innovative methodology: the design and testing of an innovative and progressive tidal pool-reef system, which uses, partially, the traditional technique of building tidal pools, common elements in the Canary Islands and the rest of Macaronesia, for the coastal adaptation of Gran Canaria to climate change. 📝More information and registration 👉 https://lnkd.in/dtQz-zTd 🚩COSTAdapta is a project coordinated by the Consejo Insular de la Energía de Gran Canaria of the CABILDO DE GRAN CANARIA with the support of 7 partners: Universidad de Las Palmas de Gran Canaria; Universidad de Cantabria; Ingecid; RALEY Estudios Costeros; ECOncrete; Fundación para el Desarrollo Sostenible, Canarias Recicla and FINNOVA FOUNDATION. #LIFECOSTAdapta #CoastalAdaptation #ClimateChange #Coasts #TidalPoolReef #CanaryIslands #Sea #Tourism #Sustainability #LIFEAmplifiers #Economy #Macaronesia #LIFEAmplifier CINEA - European Climate, Infrastructure and Environment Executive Agency LIFE Programme Gobierno de Canarias Agenda 2030 Canarias Europe Direct Canarias EUROPE DIRECT CANARIAS 🆖🇪🇺

🤝 Meet our partners 🤝 🌍 Strasbourg Eurometropolis is the local authority for the Strasbourg metropolitan area in France, situated close to the German border. Covering 33 municipalities and home to around 500,000 inhabitants over 340 km², Strasbourg Eurometropolis has been at the forefront of climate action. In 2020, the Eurometropolis affirmed its commitment to climate action by signing a statement on climate urgency. The city is particularly vulnerable to rising temperatures and flood risks, followed by the proliferation of invasive species and soil shrinkage-swelling. To address these issues, Strasbourg is implementing sustainable urban planning initiatives such as nature-based solutions that simultaneously reduce flood risks (e.g., through improved rainwater infiltration) and enhance overall quality of life by mitigating heat islands and promoting social and environmental justice. 🎯 In CLIMATEFIT, Strasbourg Eurometropolis, alongside the Agence du Climat, represents the French leader case study, showcasing innovative strategies in climate adaptation and sustainable urban planning. 🌐 Access our website to learn more about Strasbourg Eurometropolis and what they do in the project 🌱💼🌍 #CLIMATEFIT #ClimateFinance #EUMissions #HorizonEU #MissionClimateAdaptation World Climate Foundation | Research Group for Urban Development - University of Antwerp | SEI — Stockholm Environment Institute | CMCC Foundation - Centro Euro Mediterraneo sui Cambiamenti Climatici | ICLEI Europe | Forum per la Finanza Sostenibile (ItaSIF) | Actierra | SustainAdvisory Srl | Ramboll | Euroquality - Tinexta Group | Enviros Group | Ambiente Italia S.r.l. | Agency ENERGAP | AdEPorto - Agência de Energia do Porto | Alba Local Energy Agency - ALEA | Diputación Provincial de Ávila | Agence du climat, le guichet des solutions | COMUNE DI BRESCIA | Departement Omgeving | Ville et Eurométropole de Strasbourg | Municipiul Alba Iulia | Stad Genk | Paris Europlace | Fondul Roman pentru Eficienta Energiei | CINEA - European Climate, Infrastructure and Environment Executive Agency
