Here's 10 steps to Detach from the Outcome to Achieve Great Results One of the greatest challenges we face as humans is our desire for success without fully appreciating the journey. This mindset is particularly evident in our education system, where schools are so results-driven that we've lost sight of the learning process itself. In sports, this principle is well-understood. Dave Brailsford, a proponent of marginal gains, and Professor Steve Peters, who worked with Brailsford at Team Sky, exemplify this approach. Peters trained cyclists to achieve remarkable success by helping them enter a flow state, unconcerned with the outcome. Similarly, snooker champion Ronnie O'Sullivan credits his major wins to Peters' guidance. We must remind ourselves that while we cannot control outcomes, the process is entirely within our power. As children, we intuitively understood this. I recall playing as a child—even though it was long ago—without any concern for the result. The problem arises when we allow our self-worth to be dictated by outcomes, leading to various psychological issues. As humans, we should have the confidence to affirm that we are enough—a challenging concept that requires consistent reinforcement. John Wooden, the legendary UCLA Bruins basketball coach, never emphasised winning to his players. Instead, he focused on improving aspects of their game and life. His attention to detail was such that he ensured his players wore the right socks to prevent blisters, thereby enhancing their performance. Though it may seem counterintuitive, detaching from the outcome is logical. It allows us to concentrate on what we can control, enabling us to enter a flow state that ultimately boosts peak performance. Here are ten strategies to help you detach from the outcome: 1. Practice mindful meditation 2. Pursue your passions 3. Set clear, process-oriented goals 4. Eliminate distractions 5. Engage in regular practice 6. Embrace challenges 7. Listen to instrumental music 8. Exercise regularly 9. Take regular breaks 10. Cultivate a positive mindset Remember, success is not just about the destination but also about enjoying and learning from the journey. #LetGoAndGrow #FocusOnTheJourney #ReleaseTheOutcome #MindfulDetachment #TrustTheProcess #JourneyOverDestination #DetachAndThrive #PresentNotPerfect #LiveInTheNow #FreeYourMind

It’s never too late to create your ideal life. At 30, I embarked on my first solo international trip. At 32, I found true love again. At 34, I obtained my Registered Yoga Teacher 200 hour certification. At 35, I pivoted from nine years in digital marketing to leading a product support team. At 36, I went back to school, got certified as an iPEC Professional Coach and became a snowbird, living bi-coastal. At 37, I left my 15 year corporate tenure to launch my Coaching and Consulting business. At 39, I completed my first 1/2 Ironman. At 40, I earned my ICF Professional Coaching Certification. I share these facts as a reminder that regardless of your age, you have the power to start again and follow that internal nudge. The next time you notice your mind offer thoughts like “I can’t do that”, “What would happen if I leave?”, “Who will buy my services” or “There’s no way I can replace my salary doing that” let them pass and remember they are not the truth. Instead, choose to consciously focus your energy on creating the life you desire and surround yourself with those who have already created it. It’s these daily choices to intentionally think, feel and take action that matter. Each choice is a re-programming of old habits that no longer serve. Each choice is an opportunity to experience new possibilities. Each choice is evidence that you can do the damn thing. Each choice is a commitment to your dreams. Choose yourself and invest in a four month, 1:1 mindset and somatic coaching partnership with me. I’ve got 2 spots left in 2024 and now’s the time to begin so you can finish the year strong and get a jump start on 2025. Message me today to claim yours. 📸: Me, in Cinque Terre on my 40th birthday celebration trip. _________________________________________________ #personaldevelopment #personalgrowth #selfimprovement #lifecoach #careercoach #mindset #somatics #intentionalliving #createyourreality #createyourlife

Try doing what young kids naturally do when moving toward a goal. How did we lose this as we grew up? I want it back!!! Let me know if this helps you revisit those goals that have gone from a sprint to a meander. It’s all in the mindset. How badly do you want it? What’s making you hesitant? Don’t devalue your imagining and deliberating phase, it sets the groundwork for you to take action once you have your own buy-in. Example: I fantasized about my long solo mountain hike (see last week’s videos) for two weeks leading up to it, feeling more nervous, thrilled and excited than I ever did going on a first date….because it was a date with my untested self that had never gone that far before. I wasn’t sure how I’d perform, but I knew I wanted it. I reflected a ton during the lead-up, asking myself the questions in this video. Once I was mentally prepared, the real hike was a refreshing adventure. 🌿Ming Coaching helps you build a strong support circle for life, heal relationships, and achieve your life goals. April Intake The next quarter is upon us already, with the biggest question: Do you feel like you're winning? You see success and performance are a feeling. The feeling that you know you're going in the right direction. The unwavering emotion that you know that you can and will dominate when the time comes. What I see a whole too many times are those who seem to be sleep walking continuously. Saying they want one thing But seem to stay on the line of "normal" And just costing through their actions with no conviction There is something I can promise you And that's if you feel complacent, its because you've stalemated your progress. Or You may be on the other side of the coin You know that you once used to look and feel like and athlete, but seem to have regressed into the person who you always said you wouldn't be (parents I'm talking to you here) Being able to lead yourself and knowing that your standards are going to deliver what you need them to are imperative for your long term development. I'm looking for 3 new team mates to join the Stay Strong Collective in April - Physically regain control of their health and performance to lean into challenge - Emotionally start to learn how to master the inner game - Learn how to lead by becoming more resilient and objective across key areas of your life. What's in a word? On Friday morning, I was driving my two boys to school. Knowing that they both had full weekends of competitive sports ahead, I asked each of them what word they wanted to keep in mind as they entered the weekend. My youngest son said #Focus. I asked him, "How will you 'focus' during your upcoming weekend?" He explained that he would concentrate on warming up his arm well, focus on his technical skills within the sport, and, ultimately, have fun. My older son said that his word was #Confidence. This surprised me, as he has only used two words in all the years we have done this exercise: #determination and #perseverance. He explained that he continues to hold these two words but also recognized that, generally, he is more nervous in the first couple of races of a swim meet, which impacts his results. Therefore, he wants to go in with all his training and improve his mental game by welcoming more confidence. Imagining a word and the circumstances surrounding it can be a powerful exercise for improving performance, as it brings awareness and mindfulness to the situation. This system works for our family. What do you find helpful in supporting your children or yourself when pursuing goals? #goals #systems #mindfulness #focus #executivecoaching #confidence #coaching #leadership #parenting

The quote, "Mistakes are proof that you are trying," highlights the significance of taking chances and learning from our errors. 📉 . It implies that committing mistakes is a fundamental aspect of the process of learning, and we should not be disheartened by them. 📉 .
