With new regulations, an influx of climate funds and gas & water infrastructure reaching end of life, municipalities especially in New York State have a lot of potential to be apart of the thermal energy network/district energy space but it requires partnering with the private sector, the non profit sector and most importantly, the community. ******************************************************************************** My work as a former NYSERDA Clean Energy Intern at the City of Albany, New York was of interest to a few a people so my report is now posted on my site. (Inspired by my recent attendance at the Cornell Sustainability Leadership Summit on Oct 20th!) The report covers: equity concerns and TENs role in climate justice the TEN regulation landscape in New York State potential ownership models TENS and their possible relationship with municipal water & sewer departments a municipalty's possible role in utility company owned TEN (or UTEN) my recommendations for municipalities especially in NYS And even if you are not a municipal official, the report is valuable to read gives a sense of the concerns of the municipal officials who the TENs/district energy industry would inevitably have to work with. https://lnkd.in/gZpEuz47
