Why should your business join transnational research and innovation projects? Participating in a DUT project offers companies the opportunity to establish themselves as key players in urban transformation. For PRIO, being part of the ‘V2G-QUESTS’ project means staying at the cutting edge of sustainable technologies and practices. In the ‘V2G-QUESTS’ project, they collaborate with organisations from seven countries to promote sustainable urban mobility. The project focuses on integrating electric vehicles with the grid to optimise renewable energy use and reduce carbon emissions. Join us for the workshop “𝗣𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗲𝘄𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗴𝘆 𝘀𝗼𝗹𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵 𝗰𝗶𝗿𝗰𝘂𝗹𝗮𝗿 𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗴𝗶𝗲𝘀” which will take place on 🗓️ 2 October | ⏰ 14:00-15:30 CEST. 🇩🇰 The workshop will take place under the 10th European Conference on Sustainable Cities & Towns (ESCT) will take place on 1-3 October in Aalborg, Denmark. 𝗦𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗗𝗲𝘀𝗰𝗿𝗶𝗽𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻: Europe must transition towards #sustainableenergy production and sharply increase the share of renewables in the energy mix to deliver on the Paris Agreement. Ambitious policies have been proposed, including the EU Rooftop Strategy, requiring PVs on all new public and commercial buildings by 2026. But what happens to PV panels when their lifespan is over? At the same time, energy storage is critical to make renewable energy reliable for large scale deployment, and storage capacity needs to triple by 2030 and increase tenfold by 2050. But how do we secure a sustainable and just value chain of the materials needed to build them? ♻️ #Circular strategies address both ends of the value chain: materials needed to produce these technologies as well as the #waste that is produced. 🙌 Explore the crossroads between renewable energy and a #circulareconomy and discuss the strategies cities are employing to facilitate this transition. 🔋 𝐒𝐏𝟐: 𝐃𝐞𝐩𝐥𝐨𝐲𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝐄𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐠𝐲 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐞𝐬 & 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐬𝐮𝐦𝐞𝐫 𝐒𝐞𝐫𝐯𝐢𝐜𝐞𝐬 𝐈𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐬 Energy Communities play a pivotal role in Positive Clean Energy Districts (#PCEDs), but their successful implementation involves navigating various complexities: 1. Key #Components: Governance, contractual arrangements, spatial boundaries, metering, and pricing systems for Energy Communities vary significantly across ASCEND cities. 2. Legal & Administrative #Challenges: Progress is often hindered by these challenges, making it difficult to establish and operate Energy Communities effectively. 3. #EU Regulation Alignment: To achieve climate neutrality, aligning EU regulations for Renewable Energy Communities (RECs) at all levels is essential. This alignment ensures consistency and supports the growth of sustainable energy practices. #Understanding and #addressing these factors are crucial for the success of Energy Communities and prosumer services in urban settings. 👏𝐅𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐲𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐬 𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐰𝐞 𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐮𝐩👏 Today we cannot help but celebrate the five-year birthday of our company and our accomplishments all along 👏👏👏. The two people working from home have now proliferated into 10 people working at our office, sharing the passion for energy modelling: ☛ It’s all about the “what if?”. ☛ It’s all about exploring possibilities. ☛ It’s all about generating scenarios showing the results of the “what if?”. Down the road we have been answering a lot of questions, supported strategic planning, and designated pathways to reach targets of energy efficiency and emission reductions: What if a country increases the carbon taxes? How much would investments in clean energy technologies and energy efficiency increase? How much faster would the green transition move ahead? What would be the cheapest and most efficient technology solutions, if a factory wants to be net zero? What if Denmark cut back the number of cows? How big an area used for growing cow fodder could be converted to other crops? How much would the GHG emissions be reduced? Our back catalog spans modelling the energy systems of Viet Nam, Jordan, Kuwait, Ukraine, Azerbaijan, and the Nordic countries, the district heating networks of Copenhagen, the Talagh district of Dublin, Trollhättan, and Mölndal, the bio-resources of Denmark, and the energy systems of a factory and a campus. And more. Simultaneously, we have conducted research and contributed to substantial improvements of our preferred modelling framework, the TIMES energy systems modelling framework, developed by a working group under the IEA. Likewise, we have supervised PhD and master’s students. We want to thank all our partners and clients for cooperating with us. It’s been a great pleasure. “What if” we collaborate on driving innovation and promoting the green transition? This is what Energy Modelling Lab will do in the next five years. We look forward to continuing modelling, exploring, and supporting strategic energy planning to reach net zero. #ClimateAction #ClimateChange #EnergyTransition #EnergyModelling #NetZero
