Thank you, Gavin Bridge, for this interesting article. I believe the US is a "mature" market for FAST, which is why streamers are starting to streamline their channel offerings and optimize their catalogs. This aims to provide a better experience for their viewers and to better monetize their content. It’s a normal and desirable evolution for the #FAST ecosystem. This is indeed a great opportunity for SoFAST to offer some of our 630 FAST channels to these platforms to refresh their offerings. #FASTCHANNEL #TVDISTRIBUTION #OTTPLATFORMS

The TCA press tour, a biannual event dating back to the 1970s, involves companies spending significant sums to participate, filling panels with talent and providing meals. When successful, it fosters fruitful conversations and boosts viewership. However, participation is waning due to frustrations with the format, budget cuts, and the shift away from in-person gatherings. The latest cycle ended on July 17 after just eight days, with significant streamers like Netflix, Apple, and Amazon absent and no programming executives facing the press. #TCA #TelevisionCritics #PressTour #TVIndustry #EntertainmentNews #MediaTrends #TVPress #Broadcasting #CriticsTour #TelevisionEvents

**We Are All Edison Carter Now – The Power of Going Live in 2024** In the 1980s, *Max Headroom* introduced us to **Edison Carter**, a journalist battling media control in a dystopian future. He went live, broadcasting the truth to a world dominated by corporate interests. Fast forward to today, and that future has become our reality—but with a twist. Now, **we are all Edison Carter**. Thanks to platforms like Streamlee (and others), going live is no longer a privilege of the few. From our phones, we can broadcast to the entire world instantly. Whether it's to expose truth, share stories, or connect with an audience, **the global stage is at our fingertips**. But with this power comes the same challenges Carter faced. While we might think we’re in control, the reality is that **algorithms**—not us—decide how far our voices carry. Just like Carter fought against the manipulation of media, today we grapple with how **algorithms** shape our digital identities, control our reach, and influence what truths get seen. Here’s the paradox: - **Going live gives us the freedom** to share our unfiltered selves with the world. - But at the same time, **we are still being shaped by the system**. The algorithms promote spectacle over substance, and we find ourselves caught in the tension between authenticity and digital manipulation. In 2024, the question is no longer about whether we can broadcast to the world. It’s about **how to stay true to ourselves** when the system rewards exaggeration and drama over authenticity. So, the next time you go live, remember: **You’re not just a broadcaster. You’re Edison Carter.** The fight for visibility, authenticity, and truth in the digital world is ours now. #DigitalIdentity #LiveStreaming #MediaControl #Authenticity #SocialMedia #MaxHeadroom #EdisonCarter

This one's a tough one, evolution or revolution? Both roads carry risk, and it's an area where the RFP is classically weak and often conflates the goals of technology strategies. I'd always a PoC based around real world business requirements, or better yet a 3mo walk away clause and you build production in an agile way. Think about a project you had that was either a failure or miss estimated, you knew deep down where it was going after 3months.
In case you missed it, don't forget to check out Tim Burton's enlightening article featured in Broadcast Tech magazine. 📰 Dive into the insightful piece where Tim discusses strategies to ditch legacy workflows and embark on a journey towards a fresh start in media production. 💡 Discover key insights and actionable tips to streamline processes, enhance efficiency, and stay ahead in today's dynamic media landscape. “The firing, done only for financial reasons, would be shocking — except that it isn’t. Legacy media such as newspapers, television and radio continue to see their audiences shrink and change… The result is a shattering of communal gathering experiences. We exist largely in silos of information that often turn into echo chambers. The world of sports media has been slivered into endless, mostly unlistenable, podcasts, AI-generated search results, streaming services you might not want to buy, too much content created by inexperienced and unreliable outlets.” Ann Killion of the San Francisco Chronicle highlighting the painful realities behind CUMULUS MEDIA’s major shakeup effecting not only one of the markets top-voices in Sports Radio for nearly 3 decades in Tom Tolbert - but also several longtime Industry Professionals who kept KNBR 680/1050 shows and programming a fixture on the West Coast dial. In a separate move – the Company has also changed the formatting drastically of two iconic stations – KSFO 560 and KGO 810 - going from Bay Area news/sports/weather/insights to national programming headlined by grievance and fear with only occasional local traffic reports. Terrestrial Radio for me is a mental getaway at times and I have always appreciated the many local Professionals who bring this service and medium to thousands around them each day.
