Japan is working to make digital payments easier for international travellers. The government's New Tourism Nation Promotion Basic Plan, launched in April 2023, is driving this transformation. A key part of the plan is the introduction of Japan’s own QR Code (JPQR) by 2025, making QR code and barcode-based payments more widely accepted. This initiative aims to improve efficiency and trust, ultimately enhancing the satisfaction of tourists. The plan also includes facilitating cross-border payment acceptance through new merchant acquiring systems and linking with countries that use similar QR system. With the increasing use of digital payments and a non-cash payment ratio of 39.3% in 2023, Japan aims to make Expo 2025 in Osaka, the world's first cashless fair. Land of Awasomeness Last week our family visited #China to celebrate the birthday of our little one at #UniversalBeijingResort. Few advices to visitors: 1. Buy 2-days ticket. One day is not really enough to try all rides and visit all pavilions. 2. It could be a good idea to buy tickets with reserved rides to escape queues. In average one queue takes 40 minutes. 3. If you plan to go to #BeijingZoo avoid to visit it at weekend. It is anormous crowd even in mid of week. 4. Install and register in WeChat and AliPay. Credit cards could not work at local supermarkets. 5. We had used DiDi taxi for movement within city.

🛍️𝑺𝒉𝒐𝒑𝒑𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝑴𝒂𝒅𝒆 𝑬𝒂𝒔𝒊𝒆𝒓: 𝑻𝒂𝒐𝒃𝒂𝒐 𝑰𝒏𝒕𝒓𝒐𝒅𝒖𝒄𝒆𝒔 𝒂𝒏 𝑬𝒏𝒈𝒍𝒊𝒔𝒉 𝑰𝒏𝒕𝒆𝒓𝒇𝒂𝒄𝒆 𝒇𝒐𝒓 𝑺𝒊𝒏𝒈𝒂𝒑𝒐𝒓𝒆 𝑼𝒔𝒆𝒓𝒔 ✅Sometime in September this year, Chinese e-commerce giant Taobao rolled out an English interface tailored for users in Singapore. 🇸🇬If you are in Singapore, you may have noticed the eye-catching MRT sticker ads promoting this feature—a clear nod to English-speaking shoppers. With this update, navigating Taobao has never been simpler. 📖As someone bilingual, I’ve always found shopping on Taobao in Chinese quite seamless. However, this new English interface elevates the experience, making it more accessible and enjoyable for me and a broader audience for sure. 🛒This move places Taobao alongside other popular e-commerce platforms like Shopee and Lazada, effectively broadening its appeal to non-Chinese-speaking/reading consumers. It’s a strategic step, particularly in light of China’s slowing economy, as companies seek to diversify their customer base and tap into new markets. 🤝On a larger scale, this expansion mirrors efforts at the national level to boost connectivity and economic ties. Earlier this year, Singapore and China announced a mutual 30-day visa exemption arrangement—another example of initiatives aimed at fostering closer collaboration and mutual growth. 🤔What are your thoughts on Taobao’s move? Will this encourage you to explore their platform further? Let’s discuss! #ecommerce #retail #singaporeretail #asiaretail #onlineshopping #taobao #marketing #ccpn #kelvinc >>>>>>>>>> Till the next one. I’m Kelvin C.. 🛎️Follow me for a regular dose of interesting retail and marketing share. 😉 📸mine

Abu Dhabi's Mubadala Investment Company has submitted a formal application to Turkey's Competition Authority to acquire full ownership of Turkish grocery delivery firm Getir, according to data published on the authority's website. No further details about the transaction have been disclosed at this time. In June, Getir announced it had secured a $250 million investment as part of a restructuring plan that would divide the company into two groups, focusing on different markets. Under this plan, Mubadala was set to inject fresh capital and retain management control as well as a majority stake in Getir's Turkish operations, while the founders, including Nazım Salur, would hold a minority stake. Earlier in April, Getir announced its decision to withdraw from its remaining European markets to concentrate on its primary domestic market in Turkey, marking a surprising shift after years of rapid expansion and growth. Based on the data from last year's event, it is evident that a significant portion of attendees were from the E-Commerce and Digital Ecosystem, making up 48.4% of the total participants. This highlights the importance of attending the E-Commerce Expo Indonesia 2023, especially for those in the E-Commerce industry. Would you attend the E-Commerce Expo Indonesia this year? #ECommerceExpoIndonesia #BeTheFutureToday #SIRCLO #Commerce

It was somewhat inevitable. But it’s not just a UK retreat. Getir are reportedly leaving every country other than its home Turkey. That’s a *huge shift* in a period we can talk about in months. Such a lot to dig into here. It’ll be a fascinating case study into business growth and scaling based on market demand.
