While many of Donald Trump's promises for sweeping change will face bureaucratic and legislative limitations once he enters office, the LNG sector is one area where the incoming president could easily make immediate and far-reaching reforms, writes Seth Haskell for our Outlook 2025 publication. #energy #gas #LNG #US #Trump #Outlook2025 https://lnkd.in/dnGiYfNp

⏰ We have 24 hours to drive home our demands to stop LNG! Tomorrow, the Government is addressing the Planning Bill in the Dáil and has proposed amendments that designate floating LNG as strategic. This is a complete contradiction of Government policy that Ireland should not allow commercial LNG, as well as Minister Ryan’s public doubts over whether state-controlled LNG makes any sense as an emergency gas reserve. Something is fundamentally wrong when the Government says it doesn’t support LNG yet is pushing amendments to facilitate it. Will you take our e-action today, and demand the Government implement its agreed moratorium on LNG and its opposition to importing fracked gas? There's also a protest happening tomorrow at Leinster House, Kildare Street at 12 noon, together with other groups and activists, to demand that the Government say no to LNG and fracked gas in the Planning Bill. https://lnkd.in/e9tNbKNx

Outline of a proposed Trump energy agenda for the second term includes lifting any holds on new natural gas projects, clearing regulatory bottlenecks for expanding and building new LNG facilities. A second term Trump administration is in a stronger position to further reorient European consumption away from Russia and to ensure that Russian firms do not regain market share.

Combining this with comments made by incoming NSA-designate Waltz, as reported by Ken Moriyasu (森安健) in Nikkei Asia ... which suggests that key to solving problems in Gaza and Ukraine is to diminish incentive for China to buy Iranian energy (and by extension Russian energy). Get China to buy less Iranian energy--while U.S. ramps up production--Iran has less funds. Diminished Iran lessens coordination with Russia. Also suggests that the new team embraces an #energy_abundance strategy for forging ties with partners and incentivizing others. https://lnkd.in/gUQxiU_P

LNG APPROVAL RELIEF ON THE WAY U.S. LNG Developers See Trump Win Lifting Pall Over Expansions - Read More: https://hubs.la/Q02Xw5pS0 U.S. liquefied natural gas developers awaiting permits for new export projects this week expressed confidence President-elect Donald Trump will ease the way for their multi-billion-dollar expansion plans. Their confidence is buoyed by Trump’s promise to end an expanded Department of Energy review that has slowed new export permits. President Joe Biden had paused new non-FTA export permits and asked the DOE to more broadly evaluate the cumulative effects of new LNG projects’ climate and economic impacts. #lng #oilgas #naturalgas #oilandgascompanies

In a landmark decision that champions energy independence and economic stability, a U.S. federal court has overturned the Biden administration’s indefinite ban on liquified natural gas (LNG) export permits. Judge James Cain of the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Louisiana said in his order that the decision is “effective immediately.” The overturning of the LNG export ban represents a significant victory for Texas and the broader energy industry, reinforcing the critical importance of natural gas in the modern energy landscape. With this ruling, the path is clear for continued growth, innovation, and security in America’s energy future. Read more: https://lnkd.in/e-xX3Snr

Everything we've seen in the last 12 months suggests that European natural gas importers want assured LNG supply from the US combined with emissions transparency - not one or the other. Lifting the moratorium on LNG export permits will not change that. The key is helping importers to obtain the credible data on emissions that they need to choose lower emissions gas, and we know there is sufficient supply of verified low methane natural gas in the U.S. to meet European demand because we have certified 20% of total gas production. https://lnkd.in/eTPGSmU4

ICYMI: Watch our latest video summarizing NCEA Senior Fellow Tristan Abbey's recent report on U.S. LNG exports. In his report, Abbey criticizes current U.S. LNG policy by saying, "If we’re already the world’s top LNG exporter, is there even a problem to solve? Absolutely. The federal government’s approach to approving LNG exports has been highly politicized for the past decade, a condition that will only worsen without corrective action to fix a mess that partisan ideology and obscurantist electioneering have joined forces to create."
