In venture capital a big reason for lack of conviction is only seeing a Christmas bauble, not the tree ⭐🎄 In deeptech that's even more true. It's easy to get lost in pitching and building "the product". But the way I see it, the product is just your wedge. It gets the company started. But the company isn't the idea. Nor the product. A wedge gets the cut started, but the job is done over time. By the company. And in VC, investors are looking for potential huge enterprises at their inception stage. Try to have at least a tough plan how to build a gigantic business, not just commercialise a product.

Just returned from a week-long trip to NYC and the Bay Area, where I had the opportunity to meet with over 30 different early-stage venture capitalists as well as some of the iconic VC firms in Silicon Valley. My objective was to gain more insight into the next wave of AI-driven technology applications companies. It was an excellent opportunity to network and learn more about the latest trends in the industry. Looking forward to implementing these findings in my work and staying on top of the game! #AI #venturecapital #technology #networking Viktor Izakowicz Maxime Junak

🚀 Weekly Deeptech Labs Update 🔍 Topic: Refining the Narrative Deeptech Labs final programme week is about sharpening your pitch and ensuring that you paint the most compelling vision for your company. The primary audience to have in mind is the investors who will be present at Demo Day, but this work and refinement also refines the story for potential customers, partners and employees. We ensure our founders get real feedback from investors without the confines of a “real” pitch scenario and refine the story in the run up to our demo day's. This weeks expert session ran differently than the past, as we asked founders to prepare a five minute pitch to present at the start of the session before going into the 1-to-1s with experts. We where joined by the fantastic Simon Calver on Tuesday night's fireside. Simon ran the DVD-by-mail company LOVEFiLM until its exit to Amazon in 2011 for £200m, he then went onto become Managing Partner of BGF Ventures. He currently sits on the board of HSBC alongside multiple other Non-Exec and Chairman roles. As we ramp up to our Demo Day's, our founders enter an intense phase of pitch practice with the Deeptech Labs team and our Community of Experts and Venture Investors. Join us on the 4th of June in Leeds and 12th of June in Cambridge for the Deeptech Labs Demo Day's (link in comments)

The speed of new companies launching is unlike anything before because for the first time during a massive technological shift the SaaS playbook is completely democratized today. The debate between horizontal vs. vertical solutions in the new AI world we're living in is happening across every venture capital firm and every founding team that is ideating. Ilir Sela and I unpacked some of the differences that Founders need to think about when deciding between going vertical vs. horizontal in our recent conversation on Change Order.
