Flanders (Belgium) RoboTaxi ready by Summer 2026 In light of recent developments, Flanders aims to position itself as a leader in autonomous and remotely controlled transportation. According to Flemish Minister of Mobility, Lydia Peeters, self-driving cars will soon be part of Flemish traffic. By 2026, it is expected that autonomous vehicles will be allowed on Flanders' road network. Minister Peeters has worked on a comprehensive roadmap in recent months to make this possible. This roadmap provides direction and outlines the strategy for the introduction of autonomous and remotely controlled vehicles. The plan is to have licenses available for the operation of robotaxis and roboshuttles by the end of July 2026. These vehicles can then be integrated into traffic, provided they are technically ready and meet all safety requirements. With these ambitious steps, Flanders aims to play a pioneering role in the transition to a future with autonomous transportation.
