We're excited to announce the first Australia Southeast Asia Business Exchange mission to Singapore and Malaysia, happening from April 15th to 19th, 2024. This significant event coincides with the Singapore Maritime Week (SMW), adding importance to our mission. SWEDISH-ESTONIAN COOPERATION IS THE KEY TO COMPETITIVE SUSTAINABILITY! 🇪🇪🇪🇪🇸🇪🇸🇪 In Estonia, sustainability has come to be naturally integrated in business as well as the public sector. Estonia is already one of the few countries that meets WHO's air quality benchmarks, reflecting its commitment to environmental protection. The country is also well on its way to being entirely powered by renewable energy by 2030, with significant investments in wind and solar power. Here, they also invest significantly in research and development, which is crucial for driving progress in sustainability and innovation. This creates opportunities for joint R&D projects with Swedish partners. There is an insight here that in order to achieve true sustainability, one must improve the quality of life of the country's inhabitants in parallel with protecting the environment, saving natural resources and acting within a circular economy – something that ultimately increases economic competitiveness. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Precisely the balance between the three pillars of the concept of sustainability is something that has proven to be a successful path for the country's companies and organizations - and something that is directly in line with Swedish values, explains Tom Holgersson, who works as Head of Export at Enterprise Estonia in Stockholm. Maha Bouzeid, Vice President and Head of Africa at Business Sweden, was recently featured on SVT to discuss the immense potential for Swedish companies in Africa's growing green economy. Countries like Nigeria, South Africa, Kenya, and Morocco are leading the charge in sustainable development. In an exclusive Q&A with GreenPort, Mr. Wei Siang New, Director of Maritime Decarbonisation & Net-Zero Pathways, discussed several green objectives for #MPA. This includes our #decarbonisation strategy, which spans across various areas such as port terminals, domestic harbour craft, and international shipping.   ⏳ 𝟮𝟬𝟱𝟬 𝗩𝗶𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻: MPA aims to achieve #netzero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050, aligning with Singapore's climate targets and the International Maritime Organization's GHG reduction goals for international shipping.   💼 𝗖𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗮𝗯𝗼𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝗸𝗲𝗵𝗼𝗹𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀: MPA works closely with industry stakeholders, including shipping and logistics operators, to reduce emissions from domestic marine transportation and promote the adoption of green technologies and practices. These include developing electric #harbourcraft, charging infrastructure, and providing #greenfinancing to support e-HC adoption.   🔋 𝗘𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗴𝘆 𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗻𝘀𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗦𝘁𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗴𝘆: MPA is committed to transitioning Singapore's port terminals to a low-carbon future through cleaner energy adoption, automation, and #digitalisation, aiming for at least a 60% reduction in total emissions by 2030 and net zero emissions by 2050.   🛢️ 𝗔𝗹𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗙𝘂𝗲𝗹𝘀 𝗦𝘁𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗴𝘆: Singapore is focusing on developing bunkering infrastructure for alternative fuels like #methanol, #ammonia, and #hydrogen to meet the future energy needs of the shipping industry. 《North Sea Port Conference 2023》- Ghent, Belgium North Sea Port is a cross-border port area that stretches from the Netherlands to Belgium. Through this innovative merger and #corporation among 3 sites and 2 countries, I found multiple opportunities not only financially (economic value ranked as number 3 among European ports) but also in #sustainability. During the event, I was able to explore the challenge with a banking professional in initiating holistic evaluation for #financing new technologies toward #sustainable solutions and #EnergyInfrastructure. Afterall, #EnergyTransistion is so costly that needs everyone’s involvement to keep the pace. At the end of the conference, Professor Theo Notteboom brought us the new trend of #decarbonization from European Commission on the contruction of #TransportInfrastructure. But Professor Notteboom also reminded that while discussing about Trans-European Transport Network (TEN-T), we should never neglect the importance of Trans-European Networks for Energy (TEN-E) in parallel.   Once again, huge congrats to Mr. Daan Schalck, Zeno D'Agostino, José María Gómez Fuster, Ansis Zeltins for leading the trend of innovative collaboration for port authorities. I totally agree that the value of a port is not only economically but socially for well-being.
