Norwegian Delegation Heading to Brazil!   On October 22-23, Rio de Janeiro will host an important visit from Norwegian Minister of Trade and Industry Cecilie Myrseth, accompanied by a delegation of Norwegian companies across various sectors. The visit aims to strengthen partnerships between Brazil and Norway in key areas such as decarbonization, energy transition, and bioeconomy.   On October 23, the Minister will be the keynote speaker at the seminar "Norway and Brazil: Connecting for a Greener Tomorrow", held at the Sheraton Hotel. The event will cover topics like emission reduction technologies, the role of the oil and gas sector in energy transition, and innovative solutions for the bioeconomy. SWEDISH-ESTONIAN COOPERATION IS THE KEY TO COMPETITIVE SUSTAINABILITY! 🇪🇪🇪🇪🇸🇪🇸🇪 In Estonia, sustainability has come to be naturally integrated in business as well as the public sector. Estonia is already one of the few countries that meets WHO's air quality benchmarks, reflecting its commitment to environmental protection. The country is also well on its way to being entirely powered by renewable energy by 2030, with significant investments in wind and solar power. Here, they also invest significantly in research and development, which is crucial for driving progress in sustainability and innovation. This creates opportunities for joint R&D projects with Swedish partners. There is an insight here that in order to achieve true sustainability, one must improve the quality of life of the country's inhabitants in parallel with protecting the environment, saving natural resources and acting within a circular economy – something that ultimately increases economic competitiveness. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Precisely the balance between the three pillars of the concept of sustainability is something that has proven to be a successful path for the country's companies and organizations - and something that is directly in line with Swedish values, explains Tom Holgersson, who works as Head of Export at Enterprise Estonia in Stockholm. 🌟 Yesterday we had a networking event on board the Nieuwe Maze of the Port of Rotterdam Authority. Around 50 counterparts attended, including Representatives of the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Climate, Municipality of Rotterdam, Embassies, importers, commercial officers, logistics companies from the port, among others. Very proud of organizing this activity, as ProChile, in collaboration with the @Embassy of #Chile to the Netherlands, the Port of Rotterdam and the Honorary Consul of Chile in #Rotterdam. “CHILE & THE PORT OF ROTTERDAM BUSINESS PARTNERSHIP” was held, also with the aim of strengthening the link with commercial counterparts from different sectors including energy and green hydrogen sector, importers of the fresh fruit and nuts, flowers, wine, logistics and services sectors. The city of Rotterdam has been a pioneer in sustainability, and its port, the largest and most important in #Europe, is at the forefront of logistics efficiency. It is also an important distribution hub for products exported by Chile to the European continent. In recent years, Chile and the #Netherlands have become strategic allies to promote the development of the Green #Hydrogen industry. In March 2021, both countries signed a memorandum of understanding to establish a strategic collaboration, which aims to establish a green corridor from Chile to the Port of Rotterdam. This engagement represents a significant step in the bilateral relationship, consolidating commercial ties and fostering new opportunities for collaboration in prior sectors for both nations. 💡 Today we want to introduce you to one of ENERGIZE's pilot projects: Manresa Il·lumina, in Catalonia (Spain). 💹 Catalonia's economy is industrially based and rivals any other location in Spain and across #Europe. The industrial sector constitutes 19.8% of Catalonia’s GDP, surpassing the Spanish average, and manufacturing and industry related services account for 50% of the overall GDP. 🌱 In the region of Manresa, the first #IndustrialEnergyCommunity cooperative, known as “Manresa Il·lumina”, has been established. Last week, we had the honor of hosting a Canadian delegation of CEOs from Nova Scotia, Newfoundland, and Prince Edward Island. A big thank you to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Denmark and State of Green Denmark for making the visit happen! It’s always exciting to share our approach and see how our ideas resonate internationally, and the delegation’s curiosity and enthusiasm were truly inspiring. On our tour of our park, we had some great conversations about: 🔋 How to optimise energy sharing in communities 🔥 Turning waste energy into new opportunities 🌱 Giving residual resources a second life instead of letting them go to waste   One of the key takeaways was how local communities hosting renewable energy can directly benefit from green industrial clusters. By connecting industries, sharing energy, and utilising resources more efficiently, these communities can create jobs, retain economic value locally, and reduce environmental impact. It’s a win-win for the environment and for the people who live and work in these regions.   Thank you to everyone who joined us for an insightful day! We’re looking forward to keeping the conversation going and hopefully seeing some of these ideas take shape in Canada too. The Maritsa Iztok Complex is the largest energy complex in South Eastern Europe. The complex is the largest source of CO2 emissions in Bulgaria with 142,913,573 tons emitted in 2020. According to the trade union Podkrepa, around 122000 people will loose their jobs in case of closing the complex. But the consequences of climate change are severe and potentially catastrophic and reverting this trend is crucial for our planet and for future generations. This will require mitigation and adaptation strategies in all sectors of our economy. The decarbonization of economic sectors will come with the opportunity to create new jobs, especially in the energy and circular economy sectors. Today I had the honor to preside the first study group of NAT/933 Towards a just transition legislative proposal and EU policy tools that enable a more social European Green Deal. During the public hearing Ms. Sara Matthieu, Member of the European Parliament (Group of the Greens/European Free Alliance), rapporteur of the INI report on job creation – the just transition and impact investments, presented the document. 💧 The utility company Wiener Stadtwerke hosted the Center for Advanced Technologies Sarajevo (CNT), and they are united by a common vision of the wide use of green hydrogen in various sectors. CNT is already actively working on the use of hydrogen, and now they had the opportunity to visit the facility for its production, which will enable Vienna to switch to renewable energy sources and achieve climate neutrality by 2040. The delegation also had the opportunity to get to know the projects of the public transport company Wiener Linien, which uses green hydrogen for its bus line 39A, and the city's waste management department Die 48er (MA48), which uses hydrogen vehicles for waste removal.
