𝐆𝐚𝐬𝐮𝐦, a 𝐅𝐢𝐧𝐧𝐢𝐬𝐡 𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐠𝐲 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐚𝐧𝐲, has marked a significant milestone by conducting its inaugural 𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩-𝐭𝐨-𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩 𝐋𝐍𝐆 𝐛𝐮𝐧𝐤𝐞𝐫 𝐝𝐞𝐥𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐬 𝐢𝐧 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐯𝐞𝐦ü𝐧𝐝𝐞, 𝐆𝐞𝐫𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐲, supplying LNG to two vessels owned by 𝐒𝐰𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐬𝐡 𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩𝐩𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐠𝐢𝐚𝐧𝐭 𝐖𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐧𝐢𝐮𝐬 𝐒𝐨𝐥. These historic deliveries, executed on April 29 and 30, were facilitated by 𝐆𝐚𝐬𝐮𝐦's chartered bunker vessel Coralius, supplying a total of 700 metric tons of LNG to Wallenius Sol's Baltic Enabler and Botnia Enabler. The successful operation, a result of collaborative efforts between Wallenius Sol, Gasum, Sirius Shipping, the Port of Lübeck, Sartori & Berger, and BowWave Consulting, signifies a breakthrough in LNG bunkering in the port of Travemünde. Wallenius Sol's vessels, equipped with multi-fuel capabilities including LNG, LBG, diesel, and synthetic diesel, boast impressive cargo capacities and underscore a commitment to eco-friendly shipping practices. In a significant move, 𝐒𝐨𝐮𝐭𝐡 𝐊𝐨𝐫𝐞𝐚'𝐬 𝐇𝐲𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐚𝐢 𝐆𝐥𝐨𝐯𝐢𝐬 has commissioned six 10,800 ceu dual-fuel LNG 𝐩𝐮𝐫𝐞 𝐜𝐚𝐫 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐫𝐮𝐜𝐤 𝐜𝐚𝐫𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐫𝐬 (𝐏𝐂𝐓𝐂𝐬) from 𝐆𝐮𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐳𝐡𝐨𝐮 𝐒𝐡𝐢𝐩𝐲𝐚𝐫𝐝 𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 (𝐆𝐒𝐈), a subsidiary of 𝐂𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐚 𝐒𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐒𝐡𝐢𝐩𝐛𝐮𝐢𝐥𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐂𝐨𝐫𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 (𝐂𝐒𝐒𝐂). The contract, signed in mid-May 2024, highlights a collaborative effort between GSI and the 𝐒𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐡𝐚𝐢 𝐒𝐡𝐢𝐩 𝐃𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐠𝐧 𝐈𝐧𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐭𝐮𝐭𝐞 to develop what is claimed to be the 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐥𝐝'𝐬 𝐥𝐚𝐫𝐠𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝐝𝐮𝐚𝐥-𝐟𝐮𝐞𝐥 𝐜𝐚𝐫 𝐜𝐚𝐫𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐫. This order is part of a broader initiative to expand 𝐇𝐲𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐚𝐢 𝐆𝐥𝐨𝐯𝐢𝐬' dual-fuel car carrier fleet. The first bioLNG refueling in Poland is behind us! The refueling took place on September 9 in Rzepin. The tanks of the IVECO S-Way Natural Gas vehicle were filled at the fuel station owned by E-LOGIS. The delivery of fuel to the station was handled by DUON. The said station is open to the public. All customers using LNG and bioLNG fuel in their vehicles can use it for refueling. The modern facility is located in Rzepin at 10 Akacjowa Street, just 2 kilometers from the junction on the A2 highway. This begins another chapter on the road to decarbonizing #transportation. The field is developing rapidly, as the necessary infrastructure is already in place and many vehicles are designed to run on green fuel. JERA Co., Inc. proudly announces the implementation of the world’s first truck-to-ship bunkering of fuel ammonia to an ammonia-fueled tugboat (A-Tug) owned by NYK Line. This achievement follows comprehensive joint studies with NYK Line and Resonac, aimed at establishing safe handling and creating systems for transportation and receipt of ammonia fuel. Our first supply of fuel ammonia to the A-Tug will take place in late May 2024 at the port of Yokohama. 🚢 Aligned with our commitment to achieving the JERA Zero CO2 Emissions 2050 objective, this pioneering initiative demonstrates our dedication to decarbonization efforts beyond the power generation sector toward use in other industrial sectors (multi-purpose). 📢 New contract announcement!   MARFLET MARINE S.A., one of Spain’s longest standing private shipping companies, has signed a contract with us for the installation of four 22-meter-high eSAILs® on the oil and chemical tanker Santiago I. And guess what? They are the first Spanish merchant fleet shipowner to adopt wind propulsion on their fleet! 🏆 As part of Marflet’s ongoing decarbonisation strategy, the installation will enable Santiago I to dramatically reduce conventional fuel use and emissions. Depending on vessel routing and operations, this should save around 10-15% of annual energy consumption by reducing the main engine loads.  🗣 “This is a very significant contract for us, not only because Marflet is the first Spanish merchant fleet shipowner to join the wind revolution, but also because with this contract, we reinforce our position as the preferred solution for tankers,” comments José Miguel Bermúdez Miquel, CEO, bound4blue. Last week on Bunkerspot, the who’s who of the #maritime world – including Petrospot Limited's intrepid team of Llewellyn Bankes-Hughes & Lesley Bankes-Hughes and William Mulhall! - descended on #Athens for one of the most eagerly-awaited events in the #shipping calendar - #Posidonia2024. There were multiple announcements, several concerning #ammonia as a #marinefuel. Korean Register announced it had signed an MoU with Samsung Heavy Industries for the development of 9,300 TEU ammonia-fuelled container ships, as well as granting an AiP for an ultra-large ammonia carrier that is being developed in a joint project between KR and SHI. Meanwhile, Lloyd's Register awarded Chinese design company CSSC-SDARI with an AiP for its ammonia-propelled 8,200 TEU containership design. A shift to ammonia as a marine fuel will not just necessitate an increase in associated infrastructure, it will also require a workforce that is able manage it. To that end, MAN Energy Solutions signed an MoU with Eastern Pacific Shipping Pte. Ltd. at Posidonia on the development of crew training for the handling of ammonia as fuel on #vessels. We spoke with UECC’s Daniel Gent who explained how the early signs were promising for the car carrier’s Cashew Nut Shell Liquid-based #biofuel trial. ‘Already we’re seeing very positive results from the consumption of the fuel,’ said Gent during an exclusive interview with Bunkerspot. In other news, Poland-based Unimot Paliwa has started supplying #bunkerfuel in the ports of #Szczecin, #Świnoujście and Police; AURAMARINE announced it had won an order from Meyer Turku shipyard for a #methanol fuel supply system and associated equipment for the TUI Cruises-owned, methanol-ready Mein Schiff 7 cruise vessel; and of the 33 new orders for alternative-fuelled vessels in May, 23 were for methanol, according to the latest figures from DNV’s Alternative Fuel Insight platform. The Mærsk Mc-Kinney Møller Center for Zero Carbon Shipping has released a report providing a techno-economic assessment of #fuelcell applications for onboard auxiliary power for deepsea vessels. The report indicates that it appears unrealistic to assume that fuel cells will compete with or entirely replace onboard internal combustion engines in the near future, even as fuel cells reach a high technological maturity level. This is due to the high initial costs currently associated with these technologies along with the adjustments that would be required in ships’ engine-room design and standard operating procedures for the crew.
