Reelworld Screen Institute’s Post

Yesterday, CTV's The Social discussed the #HerFrameMatters Research Study and Protocol Guideline launch with Reelworld Founder and Executive Director Tonya Williams. This guideline is specifically for broadcasters, producers, casting directors, agents—everyone behind the camera in the screen industries. It aims to dismantle harmful stereotypes of Black, Indigenous, and Women of Colour in film and TV. During this segment, Tonya discusses the following topics: - Protocols for hair, make-up, wardrobe and lighting departments - Reoccuring stereotypical assumptions - How stereotypical on-screen roles contribute to the perpetuation of violence against women of colour off-screen - Open ethnicity casting calls - DEI is missing two words: belonging and accessibility - ACTRA writing a letter to the Canadian Media Producers Association about the hair and make-up situation and equity for women of colour To watch the full segment on YouTube, visit: https://lnkd.in/gX4WnVwM To read more about the Reelworld #HerFrameMatters Research Study and the Protocol Guideline, visit: https://lnkd.in/g2tHS5mg To learn more about the Canadian screen industries, join us at the Reelworld Summit on October 22 & 23.
