Hey CA folks.. Comfort Zone Is Your Enemy "A comfort zone is a beautiful place, but nothing ever grows there." - Unknown One of the biggest reasons people are lazy and always want to do everything tomorrow is because they are too comfortable with their lives. They don’t want to change the way things are going. Doing the things that you’re always doing is easy, but it doesn’t lead to the growth that you want. Reflection: As a CA student, I've come to realize that growth and success come from pushing beyond my comfort zone. Whether it's tackling challenging topics, taking on internships, or preparing for exams, stepping out of what feels comfortable is essential for progress. Embracing the discomfort is a part of the journey towards becoming a proficient Chartered Accountant. 📚💪 Call to Action: What steps are you taking today to push beyond your comfort zone? Share your experiences and let’s inspire each other to grow! 🌱✨ #GrowthMindset #PersonalDevelopment #CareerGrowth #ComfortZone #CAStudentLife

My first internship, Started at the age of 18 At a stipend of Rs 1500/ month + unbelievable experience that changed life ( can never put a value to this ) A Small team back then but immense responsibility Multiple client interactions since it’s a small team, learnt business like a pro. Feeling of ownership with a taste of the various service verticals Found my calling early on and then dived deep ! Here are some incredible learnings that I’d like to share with those starting out. 1. Start working young. In courses such as CA, Articleship is structured and mandatory. In other courses start as soon as you have the fundamental skills needed to start a job role and the industry accepts you. E.g. ACCA students usually can start post 9-10 papers, CFA students usually can begin in Level 2. Check on work trends for the course you are doing. 2.. Work & Study, it’s the best combination between the classroom and the real world. No substitute for Experiential learning 3. Organically you will find a mentor since you increase your circle from college, coaching classes to the office. 4. While there’s nothing right or wrong in working for organizations of any size, starting off in mid-sized organizations exposes you to multiple roles & variety of work helping you taste firsthand what you like and what isn’t your calling. Then commit to bigger roles and bigger organizations. 5. Remember the first package is only your experience! Money shouldn’t matter. 6. When you qualify and go for your first interview as a professional, you have a resume that speaks of some worldly experience! Just see the confidence with which you interview 7. Your first internship at a young age becomes a memory down the lane. Your first client, your first boss, your first set of friends at the office are most remembered and spoken about :) ___________ On a different note, its my 18th year in the same Group where I interned. People, Businesses, Brand Names, lots changed but certain things remain the same. That's Narendra, our caretaker whose served us 'Chai with a Smile' from then to this day :) #internship #ca #acca #cfa #mba #cpa #cma

🎯 To all my fellow Chartered Accountants. Gratitude over Complaints: Celebrating the Journey to Becoming a Chartered Accountant As I reflect on my journey toward becoming a Chartered Accountant, I can’t help but feel an immense sense of gratitude – even if I haven’t yet landed that "dream job." ✨ It’s easy to fall into the trap of complaining about what we don’t have or where we think we "should" be. But I’ve come to realize that becoming a CA is an achievement in itself – a milestone that speaks volumes about determination, hard work, and the ability to adapt and learn through challenges. 💡 Here’s why being grateful is the game-changer: It Builds Resilience: Every step you’ve taken to earn that qualification, from exams to internships, has made you stronger and more resourceful. It Shapes Perspective: Sometimes, the right job takes time, but every experience – whether it’s a short-term role, freelance work, or volunteering – adds value and contributes to your growth. It Opens Opportunities: Gratitude helps you stay open to new paths. The right opportunity might be just around the corner – sometimes when we least expect it. So, rather than focusing on what you haven’t achieved, take a moment to appreciate what you have accomplished. You’ve earned this qualification, and that’s a big deal. Let’s keep pushing forward, stay grateful, and remain patient. The right opportunities will come, but in the meantime, let’s keep growing and learning. #GratitudeOverComplaints #CharteredAccountantJourney #KeepGrowing #CareerDevelopment #PatienceIsKey #SuccessMindset #StayPositive #ProfessionalGrowth #NeverStopLearning

"Navigating the Path: From Student to Professional" is a series I recently started to share my insights and guidance based on my own experiences, especially for #aspiring CA students. In this series, I will discuss a few key points that I have learned throughout my journey. Today, let's talk about the crucial step of applying theoretical #knowledge to practical scenarios. 🌏𝗣𝗼𝘀𝘁 𝟯: 𝗕𝗿𝗶𝗱𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗚𝗮𝗽 𝗕𝗲𝘁𝘄𝗲𝗲𝗻 𝗧𝗵𝗲𝗼𝗿𝘆 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗣𝗿𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗲🌏 As you progress in your journey to becoming a Chartered Accountant, it's vital to connect the dots between what you learn in theory and how you apply it in real-world situations. Though theoretical knowledge provides the foundation, but the true understanding comes from practical application. During my studies and early career, I made it a habit to constantly #analyse and apply what I learned. Whether it was through internships, case studies, or practical projects, with this approach of linking theory to practice, you can better grasp complex concepts and become more effective in your role. 𝗧𝗼 𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝗮𝘀𝗽𝗶𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗖𝗔𝘀: 𝗺𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝗶𝘁 𝗮 𝗽𝗼𝗶𝗻𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗴𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗼𝗿𝗲𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘀 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗽𝗿𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗮𝗽𝗽𝗹𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀. Seek #opportunities that challenge you to use your knowledge in real-world contexts. This practice will not only enhance your skills but also prepare you for the diverse challenges you'll face in your professional career. Stay tuned for more insights in the upcoming posts of this series. Let's continue this journey together! #CharteredAccountant #CareerAdvice #ProfessionalGrowth #StudentToProfessional

It's definitely not a straight line. There will always be ups and downs. But remember, it's not what happens to you that defines your future—it's how you respond to it. Accountancy Student Spotlight: Allison Kopac Hometown: Ashburn, VA Residence Hall: McGlinn Hall What inspired you to pursue a degree in accounting? My mom! She is a CPA and despite all my effort to avoid the subject, I found it came naturally, and my mom was nothing but supportive of my career ambition and helped me along the way. It also has made us much closer. How has your perception of accounting evolved since starting college? I came into college thinking I would hate the subject-- that it was boring and black and white. However, in my coursework I found that it was anything but that. Accounting is the language of business, and is a skill that I am honored to have had the opportunity to learn. It is challenging, but also rewarding, and I truly enjoy it. Knowing accounting opens the door to so many opportunities, beyond just the Big Four. What is your favorite class you've taken and why? My favorite class that I have taken is Sustainability Accounting and Impact Investing with Professor Vera Munoz. The class taught me the fundamentals of ESG and has opened my eyes to a wide variety of opportunities for good in the profession of accounting and in the business world. What did you like best about your summer internship? What was the most important takeaway from such an experience? I liked how hands-on my internship was. I was pleasantly surprised by the amount of work I was able to either shadow or complete myself, and it gave me a good sense for what the career is going to entail. In addition, I worked for KPMG in Chicago in the audit division and greatly appreciated how welcome the people made me feel and how close my coworkers were. Between the work and the people, I am so excited to return to the firm and begin my career in audit! What advice do you have for other students aspiring to pursue a career in accounting? My advice to students would be to ask questions! You don't know what you don't know, and asking questions is the only way to truly gain an understanding of the profession. Everyone has been so kind to me, especially at my internship, and more than willing to meet for coffee or just to chat. This goes for classes and alumni as well. You'll never regret asking too many questions but you will regret not asking enough.
