It’s time to talk real life; not every Major Donor will become a repeat funder. There are many reasons a donor might give a one-off gift and it’s our job as fundraisers to learn from it and move onwards and upwards. So, if you’ve had a single gift and now your donor is moving on, what do you do? ⭐️ Thank them- a one-off donation can have a huge impact, so share the highlights of what their donation has achieved and express your gratitude. ⭐️ Ask for feedback- it can be hard to hear what we could do better but it helps make changes for future donors and it may even open a line of conversation to reengage with that donor in the future. ⭐️ Seek permission to get in touch in the future- just because they’re not donating now doesn’t mean they won’t in the future but it’s best to ask. ⭐️ Use your networks for support- it can be demoralising, so using networks like our Major Donor Fundraisers Facebook Group can be a good way to stay resilient.
