"When our children are in danger, our natural fight or flight response kicks in. A mental health crisis can trigger this response, opening the gates to a wide range of emotional responses that might leave you paralyzed with fear, isolated, and worried that you aren't doing enough to support your child," wrote Tyish Hall Brown, PhD wrote in the introduction to Navigating Teen Mental Health: An Expert's Guide for Parents.
Dr. Brown added: "[y]et being scared is natural, and being worried is normal. It's what we do after we acknowledge these feelings that will either set our teen up for success or leave them struggling to find their way."
Adolescents facing mental health challenges need the support of the responsible adults in their lives. And parents and other caregiving adults need support to answer their top of mind concerns while navigating their kids challenges. That's why Parent Ready, Inc. published Navigating Teen Mental Health.
And building upon this guide, Parent Ready, Inc. will release a suite of evidence-based tools at the upcoming HLTH conference to help health care providers more easily support the parents of their pre-teen and teen patients.
We are thrilled to be part of the MATTER community of healthcare innovators and will reside in their pavilion (kiosk #2854-18). Please reach out!
Parent readiness is a social determinant of health for both kids and parents themselves. We're working to help get parents ready for what's next.

For all of you that work with separating and divorcing families, I highly encourage you to take the Co-Parenting Specialist Certification Training! I may be biased because I'm on the training team, however I didn't start out on the team. I started out as a participant in the very first training that Christina McGhee did in 2021. I was so impressed with what I learned I wanted to be a part of the movement to change how divorce professionals help families through the difficult transition of going from one home to two.
Part of my motivation to join the team was that I had experienced divorce myself and saw the damage that it did to my children. I realized how much of a difference I could have made in my children's lives if I had had just some of the skills that Christina teaches. Divorce didn't have to be devastating for my kids, but the conflict between me and my co-parent was devastating.
As divorce professionals we need to look beyond the time that we work with our clients and realize how we engage during the divorce process can have a profound impact on these families for a lifetime. Even though the parents may no longer be married, for their children the family continues. We play a critical role in whether or not these families struggle with ongoing conflict.
Are we helping parents understand that even though the marriage ended, the children still need the same support and sense of safety they had while they were married? Are we teaching them skills that put children in the center of decision-making or in the middle of parental conflict?
As someone who has been divorced for over a decade, I can tell you that even though I am no longer married to my sons father, he and I still have to work together to handle challenges, heartbreak, loss and also wins. How we handle these things still has an immense impact on my boys, who are adults today. I can assure you that we would not be working together as well as we do without the information I gained from the Co-Parenting Specialist training.
The Co-Parenting Specialist Certification training provides you with skills you can begin using after Day 1. Imagine the impact you can have on the families you work with if were able to give this gift of knowledge to your clients. Imagine how much more gratifying your work would be knowing you made a lasting positive impact during, what can be, a very difficult time in people's lives.
I hope to see you at our next training cohort, September 5-6 and 12-13.

Divorce Parenting Expert, Trainer & Coach committed to changing divorce for the better: I help divorce professionals transform their practices by using a child-centered approach in their work with separating parents.
Recently, I had the opportunity to chat with Lucas Streets (https://lnkd.in/gkPQEHhp), another outstanding graduate of The Co-Parenting Specialist™ Certification Training Program.
Without a doubt, it was an incredibly insightful discussion. Our team loves the energy Lucas brings to his work with separating parents and his thoughtfulness about how he has applied what he's learned.
During our conversation, Lucas shared how this program stood out as a deeply relational experience, rich with practical insights that resonated with him as a mental health professional.
In this clip, he shares one of his biggest takeaways - the powerful, concise sayings that simplify complex ideas into actionable wisdom—essential for anyone working with families in transition.
According to Lucas, “It helped me understand that it's not always the big picture stuff. It's bringing it down to these simpler ideas that help us think about what's good for children.”
If you’re ready to evolve your approach and deepen your impact, Join our next cohort this September 5-6 and 12-13 before our Early Bird Special ends on August 16th!

Social prescribing has been shown to enhance individual self-efficacy and mental well-being, creating stronger, healthier communities.

Half of all adult mental health challenges in Australia take root before the age of 14, yet more than half of children struggling with mental ill-health aren't receiving the professional help they need. This highlights an urgent need to rethink how we support young people.
Social prescribing offers a fresh, community-focused solution to nurture the well-being of our youth. Grounded in the idea that 'it takes a village to raise a child,' social prescribing connects young people with enriching activities in their community, such as sports, arts, social groups, or nature-based programs. These connections are more than just fun—they can significantly boost mental and physical health, build social skills, and nurture confidence and self-esteem.
By helping young people access these resources, we not only support their individual growth but also strengthen the bonds within our communities. It’s a powerful reminder that raising happy, healthy children is a shared responsibility, and a connected community is the foundation for their success.

❤️Great breakout session at NRCEC 2024 about how ACF is supporting families from the very start in fostering healthy development for children. The Early Head Start Program plays a pivotal role in this mission, offering comprehensive services that include family engagement and education on critical topics such as postpartum depression.
👩🏻🍼Postpartum depression can significantly impact both mothers and their children. Through Early Head Start, families receive vital support and resources to recognize and address this condition early on. Engaging families in this learning process not only promotes mental health and well-being but also strengthens the bond between parents and children.
✅Let’s champion programs like Early Head Start that empower families with knowledge and support, ensuring brighter futures for our youngest and most vulnerable members.
