The Schwab Foundation has been working with members of the Global Alliance for Social Entrepreneurship to rally private sector commitments to increase support for social innovators through the #RiseAhead pledge. One of the signatories is Kale Grubu. Kale has managed a comprehensive social entrepreneurship programmes portfolio in Türkiye since 2017. The programmes include a competitive, annually held non-dilutive award programme (IBSG), a youth academy to empower future social entrepreneurs(DIBA), and an emergency response grant program for IBSG laureates. Kale Group considers the financial sustainability of the enterprises and decreasing their dependency on external funding to be the top priority. Kale Group pledges to gradually redesign its monetary support scheme as impact investing and capacity-building accordingly. Kale Group also aims to build a more dynamic and diverse community and extend the scope of its academy to secondary education. Collaboration with the private sector, policymakers and advocacy groups is another core pillar of Kale’s vision as a thought leader. At the start of October, the BIPC hosted a showcase event for the recipients of a county council-funded bursary to attend the Louder than Words B Corp festival that took place in Oxford in September. The showcase event was hosted at the BIPC Oxfordshire and organised in collaboration with OSEP CIC and Oxfordshire Local Enterprise Partnership (OxLEP). The bursary was funded from the county council’s community wealth building programme which seeks to ensure that local communities benefit from the opportunities and investment generated by Oxfordshire’s global economy. Recipients came from a huge variety of backgrounds, and were all enabled to attend the B Corp Festival to explore how ethical and sustainable business models could inform their entrepreneurial journeys. Oxfordshire has been leading the way when it comes to social enterprise innovation. Watch the video to see a snippet of the amazing things that local social entrepreneurs are able to achieve and to hear the stories of some of the bursary recipients.

🚀 Championing Student Entrepreneurship in Nigeria 🌍 In 2019, I had the incredible privilege of being a finalist in the Nigerian Student Venture Prize (NSVP), a groundbreaking initiative by Edugist aimed at fostering entrepreneurship among Nigerian students. This experience was a pivotal moment in my journey, igniting my passion for innovation and equipping me with the tools to transform ideas into impactful ventures. Today, I’m honored to work at Edugist as a Business Developer and Project Manager, where I contribute to initiatives like NSVP that empower the next generation of changemakers. The NSVP was designed to bridge the gap between innovation and opportunity for Nigerian students. It provides a platform for young minds to showcase their entrepreneurial ideas, receive mentorship, and access funding. Since its inception, the program has made a significant impact by nurturing businesses that address pressing societal challenges and drive economic growth. Why is the NSVP critical for Nigeria? Nigeria has one of the largest youth populations in the world, yet unemployment and underemployment remain significant challenges. By equipping students with entrepreneurial skills and opportunities, NSVP is transforming these challenges into a powerful force for sustainable development. The program not only fosters job creation but also inspires a culture of innovation, resilience, and problem-solving among Nigerian youth. To scale this impact across the country, partnerships are crucial. Organizations like the Mastercard Foundation, The Tony Elumelu Foundation, UNICEF Innovation Fund, International Labour Organization (ILO), and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, which are committed to empowering young people through entrepreneurship, education, and innovation, could play transformative roles in expanding NSVP’s reach and influence. Together, we can: 1. Empower more student entrepreneurs with resources and mentorship. 2. Expand the program nationwide, reaching underserved regions. 3. Foster collaboration among like-minded organizations. At Edugist, we believe in the power of collaboration to create meaningful change. Let’s work together to champion entrepreneurship, unlock potentials, and shape a prosperous future for Nigeria. If your organization is interested in partnering with us to drive this impact, let’s start a conversation! PS: The picture is of myself rehearsing my pitch during the 2019 NSVP edition. #Entrepreneurship #Education #YouthDevelopment #NSVP #Edugist #Nigeria
