🚨 Attention all head hunters and job seekers 🚨 hackers/fraud alert 🚨
Last week i received a message from a so-called recruiter asking if it is ok to send me “The Job Description”
She identified herself as Rashida from xxx UAE recruitment company (a famous recruitment company in UAE) ... but wait a minute ... i never spoke to this person before ❗
🔴 One click on a link , or a file download is all what it takes to hack your device ... i would rather get hacked for opening a link that made me win 1 million USD, i won’t waste my only chance on a job description file 😜
🙄 It looks like a minor issue, but the implications are huge on both job seekers and recruitment companies
As a job seeker:
🔸 You can get your device hacked and all your users, passwords and most important your bank card details stolen without even knowing it
🔸 You can get your personal data encrypted and required to pay a ransom if it is important or sensitive
What you need to know about recruiters' approach:
🔹 No recruiter will initiate a first contact with a WhatsApp message (at least not the ones you would want to work with)
🔹 A job description is only a document, WRONG, for recruiters it might take days and weeks to get their hands on a job opening deal, they won't go sharing it with everyone left and right, usually you get that file after they make sure you are a strong candidate that might win them the contract Closure
🔹 The last thing a head hunter wants is his WA mobile number available to lots of people, you only get that after multiple interactions (i think head-hunters in my network will validate that)
As a recruitment company:
🚨 Your image is compromised, and the main capital in your line of business is without doubt your reputation
✅ If no declaimer and clear message is available about the communication process the recruitment company have in place, i do suggest they design and publish one everywhere they are presented (LinkedIn, Indeed, website ... etc )
🗯 I hope these info helps a bit creating better security awareness ... it is becoming crazy day after day ... and i wish that we don’t reach a point where the only way to be secured is to be disconnected 😶
If anyone experienced something similar , let others know about it in the comments
