On June 13th 2024 I have participated in great online event by Space Tech Expo Europe. Maxime Puteaux 🚀 from Novaspace (Merger of Euroconsult & SpaceTec Partners) was moderating a panel 'Do you think that's wise? Understanding the art of taking risk in the space industry'. The distinguished panelists: Candace Johnson from Seraphim Space Lucie Campagnolo from SpaceFounders France Stefan Schneider from EUSPA - EU Agency for the Space Programme Benoît Deper from Aerospacelab Nayen P. from Satellite Applications Catapult Joram Voelklein from Alpine Space Ventures were discussing how investing in European space sector is done and how is changing in the era of #NewSpace. Key points: - Investing in space is becoming less risky. It is no more a sector where one can loose a lot of money. - With cheaper launches soon space will not be that much more risky than other industries. Investing in space is becoming an obvious move as the sector will be booming in the coming years. - European space sector need to keep on finding ways of collaborating to strengthen our position in the world to contribute to European security and defense in current politically sensitive times. - European space institutions are aware of the competition and it is gearing up to build collaborative ecosystem. - The risky investments are not to be taken by private money. It is the public sector that needs to push the unknown. Private capital will be taking only sure moves with high commercial prospects.

It was great being able to share with the community more about our expanding programs at the National Space Industry Hub with the support of Investment NSW, whilst hearing from amazing innovators and entrepreneurs Chris Shaw and Andrew Glynn! Key insights from me from the discussion included: 1. The power of partnerships is key to a business being able to move and grow quickly. The best partnerships are built from there being a "DNA match" first. 2. Andrew crystallising what they look for in partnerships - companies who knew their value proposition really well, know what they are good at and what they aren't, and are offering something truly unique. 3. Dual use approach to the business is critical to the business being able to weather the complex and often slow sales cycles, with often a need to focus on where the need is most. 4. It is critical to focus on the application and the problem being solved rather than the technology solution itself. This includes both emphasising your dual use technology benefits to specific applications whether increased productivity in mining or resilience in defence, whilst not being afraid to push back against old and outdated standards when there are better ways to deliver customer's needs. Thank you again to all that attended yesterday, and if you are interested in learning more then check out some of our upcoming programs! 🚀 2-day Workshop - Air to Space Elevate - October 16+17th 2024 A two-day workshop to help participants validate their markets, refine their value proposition, and enhance their pitching skills with a focus on space and aerospace applications. Participants will have the opportunity to test their ideas with an expert and start building out a business plan and goals to pursue next steps. Applications close October 4th. https://lnkd.in/gP-W9Pqe 🚀 4-day Workshop - Customer Discovery in Defence - Nov 14th to Dec 5th For early-stage ventures ready to dive deep into potential customers and understanding how to approach Defence as a customer, this tailored four-week interactive program can help innovators confidently approach a pathway to market within Defence and Dual-use. Applications close October 25th. https://lnkd.in/gMWewHUQ #deeptech #defence #space #aerospace #innovation #dualuse

Happy Monday LinkedIn... - Do you sit in panel discussions at conferences with a valuable question or topic that you run out of time to ask? - Are you bored of hearing each panellist give a 5 minute corporate introduction full of pre-rehearsed sound bites that leaves less time for an actual discussion? - Do you find pre-scripted and pre-arranged questions less relevant to the topic of the panel? We want to change that. I'm working with RX Global and Oceanology International and will be hosting a series of expert panel sessions at the Excel next week. These will be 100% audience-led, with no corporate introductions, and the only topic that matters is how we can improve our industry. We can take the discussion in any direction we want. Discussions will be interactive, with the ability to pivot to interesting or controversial topics brought up by the audience, or those taking part on stage, in an effort to have a frank and worthwhile conversation about how we can all work to improve our industry. We all know things need to change, so let's start the conversation. I'm being joined across the three days by a great group of panellists to discuss your questions and offer their views: Rachael Burden (XOCEAN), Alex Searle (G5 Geoconsulting), Andrew Kirkland (Corio Generation), Andrew Deeks (bp), Chelsea Bradbury (The Crown Estate), Will Hodshon (Vysus Group), Dan Morgan (Scottish Power), Jennie Morgan (Seaway7), Phil Payne (National Grid), Marc Richards (Moray West), Ben Hooker (Oceaneering), Francesca Ghigi (N-Sea), Gareth Ellery (Global Maritime), Will Rowley (Offshore Solutions Group), and Chris Almond (Kraken Robotics) Here's the links to the Oceanology website with details. All sessions take place in the Ocean Futures Theatre on the exhibition floor. 12th March, 12.45: Session 1 - Site selection & development (https://lnkd.in/eiW759Zx) 13th March, 10.15: Session 2 - Construction & commissioning (https://lnkd.in/eBxjA7p8) 14th March, 10.15: Session 3 - Long term operations (https://lnkd.in/eN6MpzZY) #oceanologyinternational #paneldiscussion #different #netzero #joinus
