This might be the most important question for food professionals to be able to answer. WHAT IS FOOD FOR YOU? I know, it is not easy to answer. Food can be defined from many points of view. But we, as professionals, we need to understand it, at least for ourselves. For me, food is most essential element to accomplish any change in the world. Food is a basic pillar of every society. How we structure our lives, how we connect with people, how we build cultures... Starts, ends or goes through food in some sort of way. That is why we shall not forget the power ir has to change the world. Food is health Food is culture Food is wealth Food is life Food is not the problem, food is the solution So again, I ask: What is food for you? #foodforthought #food #foodsystem #futureoffood #foodindustry

It seems like just yesterday that we were selected to participate in the WFP Innovation Accelerator 2021 of the UN World Food Programme WFP to validate our platform of food redistribution. We have overcome many challenges on this journey, but recognitions such as the United Nations Award for "Sustainable Urban Food Systems" validate our efforts. This October 16th, as we celebrate World Food Day, it is important to consider what this means: a fight for the right to #sufficient, #quality, and #safe food. Today, our global food system has enough quantity to feed even the 2.8 billion people facing #FoodInsecurity. We only need to invest in the redistribution of food surpluses to social ecosystems. Quality will be the result of a joint commitment between a sustainable industry and consumption. Lastly, there is an opportunity to apply technology to increase the durability and safety. October 16 is a celebration of our progress, and an inspiration to continue building on our goals, join us EatCloud #ZeroHunger #ZeroWaste #ZeroEmissions

2.33 billion people face hunger despite global food production capacity for 10 billion. Conflict and climate shocks worsen food insecurity. We aim to partner with producers to create nutritious, sustainable food products for export to food-insecure regions. Our goal is to contribute to reducing the 2.8 billion people unable to afford healthy diets, especially in low-income countries. We're committed to developing sustainable solutions that combat hunger in crisis-hit areas, supporting the right to food and SDG 2: Zero Hunger by 2030. We will transform surplus into nourishing products for those most in need. #WorldFoodDay #RighttoFood https://lnkd.in/g4QpwcZB

Today serves as a reminder of our collective responsibility to tackle food security challenges and strive for a future where everyone has access to nutritious food 🍎 . Food security—the assurance that all individuals have consistent access to sufficient, safe, and nutritious food—plays a critical role in promoting health and well-being. A term introduced to me by my professor during my first university lecture, food security—often can be confused with food safety (through the first year of bachelor 😊)—has been instrumental in shaping my education and career as a food engineer. I would also like to express my gratitude to my esteemed professors who have made a significant impact on my journey. With experience in diverse areas—from fermentation 🍇 and regulatory standards to novel food development 🔬 —I have dedicated my career to advancing sustainable practices within the food industry. Currently, I am excited to explore the potential of the insect industry. This innovative approach not only offers a sustainable protein source but also addresses food security and environmental concerns. Let’s continue to raise awareness about the critical issues we face in agriculture and work together toward a more sustainable and resilient food system. 🌍 Wishing everyone a fulfilling and thoughtful World Food Day! #WorldFoodDay #ResilientFoodSystems #FoodSecurity #Sustainability #HealthyFuture #FoodEngineer #Food

Happy World Food Day! The #righttofood is essentially the capacity to feed oneself in dignity. It is inherent to every human being and indispensable for the fulfilment of other rights. Today, on the #WFD2024, it is time to celebrate the progress made, but more importantly, it is time to reflect on what still needs to be done to ensure that every person has access at all times to diverse, safe, nutritious and culturally acceptable food. The challenges ahead are huge. With conflicts as one of the major causes of hunger in the world, it is clear that the path towards #peace requires respecting, protecting and fulfilling the right to food of everyone, without any discrimination. Without the right to food there is no future. Let's get together in the most noble endeavour and work for a food secure future for everyone. #sdg2 #zerohunger #fao

🥕 #WorldFoodDay 2024 🥕 FAO's call for #goodfood for all on World Food Day is clearly linked to #BuyBetterFood's goals and public #foodprocurement, because: 1️⃣ Public canteens are accessible to many people (e.g. students, hospital patients, residents of retirement homes, ...) and can thus contribute to improving general #accesstofood. 2️⃣ Through targeted #publicprocurement measures, we can ensure that healthy and sustainable food is served in #publiccanteens. 🏫 With more than 90 million students returning to school and university every autumn, we believe these places are a good starting point for change in the food served in public canteens: In our petition with WeMove Europe, we ask for ‘Free healthy school meals for all children!’. We have already collected > 100,000 signatures!! 🖋 And you too can sign now to support us in this demand: https://lnkd.in/eWDTeWnP

🌍 This #WorldFoodDay, let’s acknowledge that while there’s enough food produced globally to feed everyone, hunger still affects over 733 million people worldwide. Factors like climate shocks, conflicts, and economic downturns disrupt food access, hitting the poorest, often in rural agricultural communities, the hardest. Today, we recognize the FAO’s efforts to transform agrifood systems for better production, nutrition, and a sustainable environment. At Nutrition One, we believe that every individual holds the potential to make an impact, but it's together that we can build a future where everyone has the right to adequate food. 🌾 #EndHunger #SustainableFutures

Today, on World Food Day 2024, we recognize the fundamental right to food. This year’s theme, "Right to food for a better life," highlights the need for access to diverse, nutritious, affordable, accessible, and safe food for all. Although enough food is produced to feed the global population, according to the FAO, 733 million people still experience hunger. Emmy Simmons reminds us that food security is not just about having enough food, but about having access to a diverse and nutritious diet. She notes that the global nutritional picture is one of high contrast as 40 percent of the world’s population cannot afford a nutritious diet, leading to “endemic levels of malnutrition.” Learn more about global access to nutritious foods from Emmy’s commentary: cs.is/3ZnioGk Likewise, the centrality of food safety to global food and nutrition security is often overlooked in policy frameworks. In an episode of our podcast, Reset the Table, Caroline Smith DeWaal and Caitlin Welsh discuss food safety in the context of climate stressors. Listen here: cs.is/47HcjZK Sharing food and resources has defined the evolution of the human species. Zane Swanson, PhD reflects on our history of food-sharing and offers insights on how this unique capacity takes shape in the modern world. Read here: cs.is/485RFBQ Today reminds us that food security and nutrition are essential for guaranteeing everyone a better quality of life. Stronger, more sustainable food systems must be developed to ensure the fundamental right of access to food—not just for survival, but for a healthy, productive life. #WFD2024 #WorldFoodDay #RightToFood
