Danish climate tech companies take New York 🚀 Last night, the Consulate General welcomed seven Danish startups for the Climate Tech Catalyzer Startup Showcase. On stage were companies working all around the climate tech sector. From harnessing the power of ocean waves, over cultivating protein-rich algae, to temperature control of vaccine storage. Powered by Kaplak Ventures, Foreningen Catalyze, and Industriens Fond, the catalyzer gives the companies the tools they need to develop their commercialization strategy and identify business opportunities within the U.S. Besides the showcase, the catalyzer has included access to mentors, U.S. investors, and participation in strategy bootcamps. The ocean is central to our planet’s future—taking care of it can help us reach global climate and biodiversity targets, drive global economies, and provide innovative solutions to global challenges.   Yet, unlocking its full potential requires bold, transformative action. The 1000 Ocean Startups coalition is driving this change by uniting a diverse ecosystem of incubators, accelerators, competitions, matching platforms, and venture capital firms committed to supporting ocean-impact startups. To date, the coalition counts 49 entrepreneur-supporting organizations (e.g. VCs, accelerators and innovation challenges) who collectively have already mobilized nearly $2.5 billion dollars in assets and supported close to 400+ ocean health start-ups.   Last month, 1000 Ocean Startups convened over 100 champions in the global ocean impact innovation community, discussing how the ocean can be a nexus of solutions that are central to our planet’s future. FootprintLab is a #cleantech finalist along with these incredible companies tackling energy, pollution and agriculture: ❄Brightspace - the demand for cooling is skyrocketing with climate change+increasing middle class, so making heating + cooling efficient with automation and AI will be so efficient. No-one wants the mental load of figuring out AC, so this is some win-win-win stuff here (Ant Studio, have a look, might be complementary). 🔋Onvol - batteries powered by movement and heat!! Endless clean energy. Sounds handy for outdoor/remote energy demand. And anything toddlers touch. Love their term #EnergyHarvesting. 💧 SORR - a sponge that traps the annoying water pollutants, like PFAS and microplastics. Also reusable, even better! Will be even better once plastics get isotope tags so that these sponges can send the cleanup bill to the producers. 🐮CERES TAG - fitness + location tracker for cows (well, and other livestock, wildlife and pets). Extremely handy to track pasture intake for material footprint measurement of livestock as that includes their location specific grass consumption (Marcos Spinella interesting?)
