🌍 Urban Technology Alliance is proud to announce its participation as an official collaborating organization at the upcoming Smart City Expo World Congress 2024 🏙️, 5-7 November, Barcelona. During these 3 days, UTA will host a booth alongside some of its members, including Kentyou, Latitudo 40, RealSim, Nagoya University, and others. Together, we will showcase a diverse range of recent and ongoing initiatives and projects. This collaborative space will provide an excellent platform for our members to present their innovative work in areas such as:  🚗 mobility,  🚦 road safety,  🏙️ 3D digital twins,  🌡️ AI-based urban heat island modeling, and more. ✨ A Highlight of the Expo: The UTA Agora Event on November 6: "NetZero Cities: Public Transportation and Personal Mobility" 🌱 The Agora event, hosted by UTA in collaboration with the Smart City Institute Japan, will discuss the topic "NetZero Cities: Public Transportation and Personal Mobility." It will bring together leading cities and experts to explore the role of sustainable transportation in achieving NetZero goals 🌿. The session will feature cities such as Utsunomiya (Japan), which recently completed a NetZero LRT system 🚋, and Grenoble-Alpes Métropole (France) 🇫🇷, a leader in reimagining its transportation network as part of a broader sustainability initiative 🚉. The discussion will focus on real-world deployments, examining both successes and challenges, and how these efforts align with broader city goals for sustainability and healthy urban living 🌍🏙️. It was a fantastic experience attending the Smart City Expo World Congress 2024 at Fira Barcelona, where our colleagues Beatriu Tenas Torres and Olivia Cerda from the ESG team at ALG-Minsait. They were invited by Dassault Systèmes to attend the event and present their valuable work in these areas. The event provided a unique opportunity to explore new approaches that are shaping the future of urban living, with AI at the core of advancements in transportation and sustainability. We also participated in insightful conferences such as Tomorrow’s Blue Economy, where industry leaders from sector shared their vision for sustainable #ports and the in a greener future. With international reach, the Smart City Expo had strong representation from EU countries, the Middle East (especially Saudi Arabia), and Asia. From South America, Chile and Curitiba, Brazil, showcased their sustainability and innovation efforts, contributing their valuable insights on the global stage. #SmartCity Expo World Congress 2024 is busier than ever this year, and we thought we might drop by as digital is what we do 😉 . Slightly out of our usual very water-focused topics, and it was very refreshing to open up to observe and listen to urban innovation and digital cities & communities working towards one goal: LIVE BETTER. Our take-home messages: ▶️ digital solutions take all shapes and forms. While concepts are often aligned, applications must be customised to each location / project to ensure success: same for the water industry, ▶️ "#smart", "#innovation" and "#environment" (and "cities" of course!) actually seem the share the scene of the event in equivalent proportions. Smart Cities - that's what I wanna talk about! Not what splits us, but what really brings us together. The world is gathered in Barcelona to talk about how we can make urban life more sustainable - both socially, economically and environmentally. "Urban data" was the name of the session I took part in, together with Anders Broberg from Stockholm and Tomas Lehtinen from Helsinki, wonderfully moderated by Thomas Bergøy Johansen and what we talked about was... no, not technology - but culture! Yes we need enabling regal frameworks and tech infrastructure, but both the quality of data and use of data ultimately depends on people seeing the value of using it. I look forward to share more examples of how we are moving to become more data-driven in Bydel Gamle Oslo I forget to think about photos on stage, but here is at least some kind of proof that I really was there 😀 Smart City Expo World Congress
