How does your business support and protect biodiversity where you operate? Today is International Day For Biological Diversity. Tourism is not just a victim of climate change, it also contributes to the problem, and that includes biodiversity loss. The future of tourism relies on nature flourishing, so it would be shortsighted of Wild Adventures Melbourne (WAM) to operate in a way that delivers extraordinary experiences in Australia's spectacular and iconic nature, yet did nothing to support and protect ecosystems and biodiversity. As a tourism operator, i'm acutely aware that WAM needs to be part of the solution, rather than part of the problem. That has been in our DNA since the very beginning. This is why I created the WAM 4 Project. The WAM 4 Project is dedicated to supporting the long-term conservation and protection of nature, wildlife and culture on the Mornington Peninsula and surrounds so that it can thrive and be enjoyed for generations to come. You can find out more about the project here: https://lnkd.in/guZSc-9M WAM strives to protect, restore and enhance biodiversity in multiple ways including supporting restoration of reefs and kelp forests, planting native trees and other plants, saving energy, cleaning up eliminating and reducing waste, ethical supply chains and more. We will be posting more soon and how WAM is connecting the dots with the impact on nature and direct actions we are taking to cause a ripple effect of positive difference. #biodiversity #internationaldayforbiologicaldiversity #positiveimpacttourism #ecotourism

Harnessing Innovation: Biodigesters in Kenyan Real Estate #KenyaRealEstate #SustainableDevelopment) The Kenyan real estate landscape, particularly along Thika Road, is witnessing a fascinating trend: developers embracing cutting-edge technology to elevate living experiences. One such innovation that has piqued my interest is the integration of biodigesters, replacing traditional city council sewer systems. Biodigesters offer a sustainable and cost-effective wastewater treatment solution. These systems convert organic waste into biogas, a renewable source of energy, and nutrient-rich fertilizer. This translates to several benefits for homeowners and developers alike: Reduced Environmental Impact: Biodigesters minimize reliance on city sewer systems, potentially reducing strain on infrastructure. Additionally, they generate clean energy and valuable fertilizer, promoting a more circular economy. Lower Operational Costs: Biodigesters can potentially lead to lower long-term maintenance costs compared to traditional septic systems. Increased Property Value: Homes equipped with biodigesters can stand out in the market, attracting environmentally conscious buyers willing to pay a premium for sustainable features. The growing adoption of biodigesters in Kenyan real estate developments highlights a positive shift towards sustainable practices. This technology offers a glimpse into the future of responsible property development, potentially paving the way for wider homeowner adoption in the future. Do you have any experience with biodigesters? Share your thoughts in the comments below! Here is one of the properties that has this interesting technology https://lnkd.in/dQkd--ym #Biodigesters #SustainableLiving #Kenya #ThikaRoad #Nairobi #Investement #money #Interiordesign #RealEstate #Banking #Technology #moneymarketfund #Building #renovation

☀️ Benidorm and sustainability This emblematic Mediterranean city, unlike many others, has grown vertically, following a high-rise construction model. This compact model has not only optimized the use of limited space, but has also generated a more efficient infrastructure, reducing the environmental impact of transport services. It also promotes a more active and healthy urban life, without the need for vehicles to get around. It´s this innovative architectural approach that has consolidated Benidorm's reputation as a future-oriented city. Benidorm has a Climate Change Adaptation Plan that analyzes the climate trends that could affect the city over the next 8 decades. In addition to the implementation of environmental initiatives such as the installation of solar panels and the modernization of water infrastructures, the city has installed smart cameras at strategic points, such as the beaches, to monitor the capacity in certain areas and ensure a safe and pleasant experience. #MillenniumLuxuryProperties #LuxuryLiving #CostaBlanca #Benidorm

As someone who reviews numerous travel stories daily, one recent partnership really grabbed my attention. Imagine a world where the rail tracks you ride on not only take you to your destination but also serve as guardians of nature's treasures. I'm very happy to share an article I've put together about a remarkable collaboration between London North Eastern Railway - LNER - and the Findhorn Watershed Initiative - the Findhorn, Nairn, and Lossie Rivers Trust that's breathing new life into the ecosystem of the River Findhorn. In a landscape where declining salmon numbers signal environmental distress, this partnership is a beacon of hope. Through their combined efforts, they're not just combating ecological challenges but also fostering community engagement for a sustainable future. What's most inspiring is how this initiative underscores the potential for travel companies to be stewards of the environment. It's a testament to the power of purpose-driven partnerships and the profound impact they can have on our planet. In the article, there are comments from Bob Laughton of the Trust and LNER's Rachael Wilson and a link to a video, in which Laughton and Ellie Adams; researchers in residence Mairi McFadyen and Raghnaid Sandilands; and volunteers Campbell Ross and Louise Ramsay share what they are doing and why it's important. Rail companies, like LNER, can make meaningful contributions to conservation efforts. From revitalising ecosystems to promoting community involvement, there's much we can learn from their innovative approach. This article opens the door on an important programme undertaken by a travel provider and the community it serves and looks to enhance. If you travel frequently by train, maybe this is a good time to discover how your journey can leave a positive imprint on the world around you. Click the link below to read the full article and join me in celebrating the remarkable strides being made towards a greener, more sustainable future! https://lnkd.in/d-dQRB-N #LNER #Conservation #Sustainability #CommunityEngagement #BusinessTravel 🚆🌍🌿

Cape Verde, also known as Cabo Verde, is an archipelago in the Atlantic Ocean off the coast of West Africa. It's known for its cultural richness, scenic beauty, and historical significance. Here's an extensive look at various aspects of Cape Verde: Geography The archipelago consists of 10 main islands and several smaller islets, divided into the Barlavento (windward) islands and the Sotavento (leeward) islands. The islands have a volcanic origin, with Mount Fogo being the highest peak and an active volcano. The islands vary in their ecological characteristics, from arid plains to lush green mountains. History Discovered by Portuguese explorers in the mid-15th century, Cape Verde became a significant hub for the Atlantic slave trade due to its strategic location. It served as a provisioning center for ships involved in the trade between Africa, Europe, and the Americas. Cape Verde gained independence from Portugal on July 5, 1975, and has maintained a stable democratic governance structure since. Politics Cape Verde is known for its stable democratic system, which is relatively rare in the region. It operates under a semi-presidential system, where the President is the head of state, and the Prime Minister is the head of government. Cape Verde has been praised internationally for its political and economic stability. Economy Traditionally, the Cape Verdean economy has been dependent on the service industry, remittances from a large diaspora community, tourism, and foreign aid. The country's economy also focuses on its growing tourism industry, leveraging its beautiful landscapes and cultural festivals. Despite its limited natural resources, the government is working on increasing investments in renewable energy, particularly wind and solar, to sustain its development. Culture Cape Verde has a rich cultural heritage influenced by both African and Portuguese elements. Music is a vital part of Cape Verdean culture, with genres like Morna (a melancholic genre of music like the blues, made famous by Cesária Évora, a renowned Cape Verdean singer), Funaná, Coladeira, and Batuque being popular. The country's literature, cuisine, and festivals also reflect a blend of these cultural influences. Cuisine Cape Verdean cuisine is characterized by a mix of African, Portuguese, and Brazilian influences. Seafood plays a significant role in the diet, alongside staples such as corn, rice, and tropical fruits. Cachupa, a stew of hominy, beans, and whatever meat or vegetables may be available, is considered the national dish. Challenges Despite its political stability and growing economy, Cape Verde faces challenges such as water scarcity, limited natural resources, and vulnerability to external economic shocks. The country also deals with issues related to unemployment and poverty, although it has made significant strides in the health and education sectors.
