“Wow, you really stepped out of your comfort zone!” – said by a former colleague I hadn’t seen in 18-months. It didn’t seem so scary when I said ‘yes!’ to the new job a year ago, but once I was in it, it was really, really hard. The work was exciting, and the team was filled with smart, talented, fun-to-work-with-people. So, why was it so hard? For the first time in a long time, I didn’t know the answers right away, or which contributions would add value in meetings, or even who to call when I needed to phone a friend for help. I call these times in my career “seasons” – those growth periods that bring big change as well as improvements month-over-month until one day – you know who to call for help and/or past expertise collides with new expertise in a way that you can take the work to the NEXT LEVEL. 🚀 Today I'm celebrating my 1-year anniversary (🍾) and sharing a few personal lessons from this season. 💫 Invest in your network – regardless of where you are in your career, these authentic connections will carry you through. 💫 Learn when it’s time to say ‘yes’ to your next role – to know me, is to know that I LOVED my previous role, but the reality is, I should have stepped out of my comfort zone sooner. 💫 Recognize that the journey will take time – much like the hike in the photo, the path out of the canyon had a lot of ups and downs, switchbacks, and rocky terrain. 🫠 Breaking the climb down into manageable distances, assessing the terrain in the next section, and taking rest breaks led to the overall goal. As I approach my three-year anniversary at my current job, I can’t help but reflect on the incredible journey I’ve had. I’ve learned so much and grown both personally and professionally. One question that often crosses my mind is, how do recruiters perceive candidates with diverse experiences in different fields? Does frequent job switching raise any red flags, or can it showcase adaptability and a breadth of skills? I’d love to hear insights from fellow professionals and recruiters! Yesterday marks my one-year anniversary in corporate. Here are ten things I am learning these days🤝 1. You mental Physical health is more important than anything. Zero tolerance for mental-physical harassment. 2. Never compromise your self-respect or your family for anything. 3. Corporate says, 'We are a family, but not. You are there to work, not make family. You could be replaced any time.So mind your own roles and responsibilities. 4. Don't play office politics. 5. Learn to say 'NO.'. 6. Improve your skills. 7. Work smart, not hard! 8. Never settled for less. 9. Know your value. If the place doesn't know or doesn't care about your value or effort, remember there are plenty of fish in the sea. 10. Don't trust any co-workers. They are your co-workers, not your friends. They use your words against you. Happy anniversary to me. Well done reshma, you deserve a tight hug 🫂

Today marks my 13th Anniversary as a member of The Brydens Group. I feel privileged to have had the chance to collaborate with influential individuals who have enabled me to forge a fulfilling path while contributing value to the organization. Reflecting on my journey, if you had asked me at the outset if I envisioned myself in my current role, I would likely have answered affirmatively. I have always been driven and recognized the unique skillset I possess and how it can effectively be utilized. My philosophy includes volunteering my talents where I believe they can make a difference, regardless of personal gain. This approach has not only opened doors to unforeseen opportunities but also allowed me to display abilities beyond my designated responsibilities. At Brydens, I have transitioned from Brand Manager to Business Development Manager and now Group Corporate Affairs Manager—a career trajectory that aligns perfectly with my aspirations. Each role has been a learning experience, allowing me to refine my skills and maintain a perpetual sense of excitement. Ultimately, it boils down to comprehending your value. In essence, if you view yourself as a brand, what principles do you stand for? My journey highlights the significance of hard work, belief, and being a bit of a dreamer. Defining your identity and ensuring that you consistently deliver on it is paramount. You’re missing out on the support you deserve because you’re searching for support you’ll never get 🙅🏽♀️ As we celebrate our one year anniversary, I am reminded of just how amazing my husband is. He attends ALL of my presentations and performances, encourages me when I’m feeling down, pushes me to do better when I’m being lazy, and he always has my back. Before him, I looked to my job for that support. While sometimes it worked out, way too often was I left hurt and disappointed. You know why? Because I wasn’t letting my job just be my job. I was trying to get it to fill a role in my life that my contract never stipulated. Double check your contract… unless you see it explicitly stated that your job will support and fulfill you, stop expecting that. Sis… it’s ok to take a step back and find your support and fulfillment outside of your job. It doesn’t mean you can’t still operate in excellence, it just means that you’re actively choosing to live a life that is not dictated by how your day at work went. It’s time for you to start thriving, not just surviving. Celebrating my 2-year Anniversary as a Business Owner To say that time flies is an understatement. September marks two years for me as a small business owner. I am deeply grateful for all of those who continue to help me on this journey, and the many clients who have trusted me to serve their needs. I am joyfully celebrating the career I designed that plays to my strengths and honors my values. Here are some of the valuable lessons I learned along the way… 1.    Don’t take yourself too seriously – embrace humility. 2.    When you have a bad day, lift someone else up. 3.    Be an advocate for others. 4.    Be willing to ask for help and offer to help others. 5.    Your best laid plans will change – be ready to pivot and be resilient. 6.    Your value is not measured by the hours worked but the impact you make. 7.    Play is a connection to creativity. 8.    Rest is an investment in your wellbeing. 9.    Prioritize time to think, reflect, and dream – this unlocks energy, focus and productivity. 10. Take good care of your body – your life depends on it. Onwards to another year of personal and professional growth and a commitment to wellbeing, wisdom, and wonder!

As I celebrate another year today, I reflect on one of the most valuable lessons I’ve learned, both personally and professionally. The path to true success is simple: love what you do and do it with people you love. This mindset not only drives satisfaction but also fuels sustained progress in everything we pursue. When we are passionate about your work, challenges become opportunities. That enthusiasm fosters a sense of purpose and resilience, which leads to greater satisfaction and fulfillment. Working alongside people you respect and enjoy being around magnifies this effect. Strong, trusted relationships create an environment where collaboration, creativity, and support thrive. As we all push towards our goals, it’s worth pausing to ask: Am I loving what I do, and am I doing it with people I love? Cheers to success, fulfillment, and lasting progress!

I never made a one-year anniversary post about my first job after college, and there’s a reason why. As I navigated starting my career, I also watched my parents finalize their divorce. I’ll keep the personal details off of LinkedIn, but here’s what the last year has taught me in work and beyond: • Empathy Matters: You never know what others are going through outside of work. A little kindness goes a long way. • Work as a Constant: On tough days, work may be the only constant. Sometimes, that consistency is a welcome anchor. • Embracing Change: Life and work can both present challenges. Whatever you do, adapt, pivot when necessary, and keep moving forward. So no, I never posted celebrating my one-year. I didn’t highlight achievements throughout the year, and I didn’t network with every person I met. I focused on myself, and I’d like to think I’m better for it. With that, here’s to year two and all that comes with it—hopefully, a little bit better than the last.

Happy New Month Everyone. It is a new day and a new month of this year that will never come again. So surprising how time flies. Reminiscing, we can all remember celebrating New Year not long, like it was yesterday. Now it is June. The first half of year 2024 is coming to an end. I hope and pray that all our prayers and expectations will be met in this new month. Today, I implore you to take a short period of time out of your busy schedule to brood. Think of the past months and be grateful for both the little achievements and bourgeois ones. Remember being grateful is the access to more blessings and opportunities. Also do not forget to gauge yourself. Ask yourself thought provoking questions like; - How well have I developed myself within these past months? - What have I learnt that will sharpen my understanding? - How have I made impact on others etc. Ask yourself these questions.
