In the spirit of improving our mental health, today’s post is about exercise. Some of you may already have a regular exercise routine. Great! Keep it up! Others may loathe the idea of exercise. Who wants to run on a treadmill that takes you nowhere? It’s so boring, you may be thinking. The good news about exercise is that it comes in so many forms. Think gardening, walking, mowing your lawn, yoga, swimming, biking, and the list goes on and on. Exercise to improve your mental health is all about moving your body. When you exercise hard enough, your body releases endorphins, which make you feel good. Even if you don’t exercise that strenuously, exercise still positively impacts your mental health by shifting your focus for the time being. I find when I’m exercising, that I set aside my worries because I’m focused on the activity of moving my body in some way. Admittedly, there are times you may not feel like exercising. I can relate! For me, that was tonight. After a long day with unexpected frustrations, all I wanted to do was sit around and read a book after dinner. But I made myself head outside for a short trail run. I’m so glad I did! I finished feeling refreshed and less frustrated, ready to relax for the rest of the evening. So exercise even when you don’t feel like it. Your body and your mind wil thank you! #MentalHealthAwarenessMonth #exercise

Love to read this. So much truth in your post Stevie. I find anytime that I fight through and do the workout when I’m not feeling it, the result on the other side is doubly rewarding. Keep #fanningtheflame🧡🔥👊🏼

This is such great insight! It took me half a century to learn this. I could not stick to a fitness routine until I involved my mindset. And….i love your suggestions of trying different things. After trying many things, I’ve discovered what keeps me consistent and keep those things on my regular rotation of workouts.
